You have dial 0 for ice!
Dial 0 for ice to be brought to your room. Do not go to the front desk with an ice bucket! You will get a dirty look from the guy behind the desk.
Park in the ramp across the street its $20.00 to park overnight.

Just Okay
We stayed in the Grand hotel for a weekend away from the kids. The room was nice although there were not aveda products like the description said. It was some other brand - not the same quality as aveda. The bathrooms were great. Huge tub with a TV above it and it was nice that the toliet was in a separate area than the sink area. If we were to go downtown again, I would probably sacrifice the swankiness like the huge bathroom and bathrobes for a hotel that had a breakfast bar. During the weekends, there arent many places around to eat before dinner which we didnt know before our trip. Very few restuarants opened for lunch and we only saw a Brueggers that was open for breakfast. They do offer a small room service breakfast, but its a little pricey for what you get. Parking was great. We didnt use our car so it sat in the parking garage fri-sun and the total charge was $5. Overall, it was an ok experience.

Lovely hotel - would stay there any time
The Grand Hotel used to be the Athletic Club, and is decorated with AC memorabilia, including - in my bathroom - a typed 1915 letter asking how payment for the buildings cornerstone ($48) was going to be made. These clever touches, together with the extreme comfort of the rooms and thoughtfulness of the amenities, make this not only a pleasant, but a luxurious place to stay. A Lifetime Fitness gym is in the building, along with a pleasant restaurant, cheerful room service, an attractive ground floor bar and attentive concierge assistance. I cant think of a single thing thats missing. The room decor is low-key but ultra-luxurious. Staring at the pale curtains in my room, I suddenly realized that they were lined silk shantung, and just exquisite. I couldnt have been happier there, and would return any time Im in Minneapolis. Thanks, Expedia, for offering a great rate at a truly terrific hotel!

Great hotel and fitness center, but parking is expensive
We enjoyed our stay at the Grand Hotel, with its great fitness center, great location, and comfortable room. Unlike some of the reviews I read online, we had a very small bathroom, without counter space, just one small glass shelf. The sitting area with plasma tv made up for it, though. We loved the fitness center, utilizing it daily. The parking was a bit problematic. There is no parking ramp attached to the hotel. Your choices are valet service, which at $28 plus tip was more than we wanted to pay, or the ramp across the street, which required carrying luggage to the hotel, and paying each time you went in or out, as there wasnt a set parking fee for hotel guests - an nearly equally expensive option to valet service if you were utilizing your car a lot. The hotel rate was terrific, but combined with parking costs, other hotels in the area would have been equally affordable.

Nice but
Almost too nice. Didnt like the fact that at the pool there were separate mens and womens saunas. No common area for men and women to mingle (i.e. whirlpool) other than in the pool. Also would have liked coffee maker in the room. Also would have liked ice machine that guests could access. The air system was very loud. Had to shut it at night to sleep. No direct access to hotel from parking (i.e. had to either go up or down steps to get to hotel lobby). Had to carry parcels from vehicle to room. Everything else was great.
Traveler's tip on nightlife
Close to Metrodome, target centre, restaurants.

Impressive downtown Mpls hotel
My husband and I recently stayed at the Grand for a getaway weekend, plus a Viking game. The photos and positive reviews, along with the great room rate were the reasons that we chose this hotel over the many other downtown hotels that we have stayed at in the past. Our room was at the end of a hall and very quiet. So many other hotels bunch all of the guests in one location and then you hear doors slamming constantly, but not here. Our room was beautiful, the bed was very comfortable, (almost as good as home) the pillows were perfect, and the bathroom was incredible. Marble everywhere, separate toilet area, walk-in shower with two heads, bathtub with t.v., and many other amenities. We enjoyed our luxurious robes as well as a paper in the morning. We look forward to staying here again.
Traveler's tip on dining
We walked to the famous Keys Cafe for breakfast in the morning, which is only a few blocks away. The fresh-squeezed orange juice is delicious, the atmosphere is great (especially on game day) and the caramel rolls are out of this world!

Would be my first choice in the Twin Cities!!!
We loved this hotel! Great old character and unique floors. The comfort of the room was top notch! The view, well, what can I say, it is downtown Minneapolis. The only minor issue was the parking. Even though it was valet, we had to walk a block to pickup or dropoff the car which is usually not a problem, but it was raining. Also, it would have been nice to know that there would be a wait to get your car upon departure. So if you are on a time frame, dont wait until the last minute. Otherwise, I love the valet parking!! I would definitely go back!

Not impressed
The hotel itself looks good, until you get to your room. The bed rocked back and forth, it stank like someone was smoking next door and the rooms look are old feeling. I wouldnt recommend this hotel. The wifi didnt work. And the hotel staff didnt tell us that there is a $30 parking fee along with a $100 deposit per night fee just to stay there. As long as you dont use any of their stuff, youll get your money back within three days. Nice to know before anyone goes.

We went to the Dakota Jazz Club. We loved it. It has live music along with appetizers, entrees, drinks and dessert! A little spendy, but well worth it!

Fantastic hotel with pool!
I loved the rooms in this hotel. Comfortable beds, huge tubs, great amenities. The food I ordered through room service was delicious and the staff was very friendly and accomodating. The hotel is also close to shopping and tons of restaurants and is only a 5 minute walk to the light rail that takes you to the airport and Mall of America.
Traveler's tip on dining
For breakfast go to Hells Kitchen - its a 5 minute walk from the hotel and has the most amazing breakfast food youll ever eat.

Grand Hotel A Good Business Stay
WE did not stay at the Grand for business but I would definitely classify the rooms as such. Bed was comfortable, room was "big enough" but definitely a no muss no fuss room. Bathroom had a t.v. located above the tub, that was a nice touch. Hotel staff was very nice. We would definitely stay again.

Overall nice hotel
The Grand Hotel is a nice hotel, but depending on whats scheduled you may be up all night. There was a wedding reception the weekend that we stayed at the hotel so it was very loud in our room. We booked the Queen upgrade room and it was okay. The hotel could be in need of some updating in the rooms, the bathrooms looked nice on the surface. The decorative pillows on the bed were kind of in need of a cleaning if you ask me. Also new carpet could be a good idea judging by the fact that they are a 4 star hotel. If you look closely you can see some unremovable scum on the shower and bath tub. The lobby was a joke!
Traveler's tip
Parking is pretty expensive($20 a day) and be ready for a walk to the hotel from a shady/iffy parking garage. I wouldnt recommend going to your car past 8:00 if you dont use valet parking.

Antique Charm Combined with Modern Luxury
The Grand Hotel was the best experience Ive had in a long time. I was able to get a great rate at this hotel through Expedia, and chose it due to its great downtown Minneapolis proximity, and the great amenities. The hotel exceeded my expectations. The staff were very professional and courteous, the amenities are as billed (with a fantastic full service gym), and the rooms very enjoyable, with comfortable bed and furniture, very roomy space with large bathroom and walk in shower, and an antique, classic hotel feel. My only complaint is that the A/C has only an on/off mode, so when its on, the fan is constantly blowing, and was a bit noisy. Aside from this minor inconvenience, my stay was perfect.

Not a chance
The hotel was ok. Getting there was a nightmare, parking was a huge problem and no help available from hotel. Valet was around the corner (the wrong way on a one way street). Took me 15mins to get to the valet.

A very Grand hotel!
Great hotel, perfect downtown location. We were given a corner room with huge windows on two sides. The bed was very comfy. The bathroom was luxurious. Very attentive service from the staff. And we received an amazing rate for the weekend. A real treat! Id stay again in a heartbeat. My new favorite Twin Cities hotel.

SO CLEAN, SO QUIET!
Everything about this hotel was wonderful. It was a nice escape from the construction and mess of downtown Minneapolis. If I had one wish it would be the the lobby was bigger and brighter, but that is about the only complaint I can think of!

Excellent hotel experience
In this day of cookie cutter hotels and rooms, the Grand stands out in my travel experience. The hotel staff was cordial, the room comfortable, bathroom was spacious with a shower with dual shower heads, separate tub and toilet areas; turn down service impecible...coming back from meetings with ice in the bucket, jazz music on the radio, bath robe, chocolates, and the next day temps on a card on the bed was a treat....highly recommend!

Impressive Hotel
The Grand is impressive. It is almost luxurious. The staff is terrific. Wi-fi Internet access is free. The best part is the health club, which is awesome, complete with a real basketball court.

Large, very comfortable rooms in a classically styled hotel
I enjoyed my stay at the Grand. The rooms were very large and well designed. My only complaint was the considerable amount of road construction making finding and entering the hotel quite difficult. The front desk was extremely helpful and even pointed me to nearby parking garages for affordable parking.

Not impressed.
The valet service was confusing. In order to reach the service one must drive around the block. The valet was not on post when we arrived at the designated location and no one was around in the valet area. To find your way on your own from the garage through the skywalk system back to the hotel was confusing. A little more explanation and/or a map would have been extremely appreciated. It was also very disappointing to not receive the promised turn down service. Overall, I can sleep in a nice room in many places, but we were paying and wanting to stay because of the promised services. I would not return nor recommend the hotel. There are plenty of nice hotels with excellent service, unique history, and great character within downtown Minneapolis.
