good price/value
This nice family hotel is out of the city center in a quiet and nice area, and we have to change public transport only at once: its only 10 minutes by bus to the closest underground station and the bus stop is right next to the hotel. But buses come when they want :-) There are a lot of car parking places and its free and safe, so very useful if you arrive to Rome by car. You can leave your vehicle here and go to the city center by public transport. Dont use your car in the city!
Very good for families: there is a big yard, restaurant and the garden is so nice. There are bigger rooms and bungalows for families. Also good for recreation: its a quiet island not so far from the teeming city.

Away from the tourist traps
Great place to stay if you want to be away from the hustle and bustle of downtown Rome. You will have to take a bus to connect to the metro but we did enjoy our stay. You are also only about a 5 min walk to a mall with a grocery store. We enjoyed a great dinner at the hotels restaurant as well. Room was kept very clean and staff was very pleasant. Some language barrier issues if you dont speak Italian but we could usually get our questions answered. Also you can get a great gelato right outside the metro San Paulo station before you catch the bus home, for a much cheaper price than in Rome (always take bus 766!).
Traveler's tip on dining
Dont take the riverboat dinner cruise. All we saw were concrete walls. Good food but bad view.

Far from the center.
The hotel was clean. Theres free internet. It was nice getting the complimentary cappachino and breakfast every morning. The hotel was nice but a little bit far from the center of everything. You have to take the bus for 10-15 minutes then switch to a subway. From the subway itll take another 8 minute ride to the Colliseum. The subway closes at 11pm a little bit early. If you plan on taking a taxi from the Colliseum area back to the hotel itll cost about 25 U.S. dollars. We ordered a taxi from the front desk to the Leo de vinci airport. The cost was $75 U.S. dollar for a 15 minute ride. A little bit sketchy because the price was steep for a short ride and it wasnt even a taxi cab but a mercedes with no taxi licensing badges.
I would get a hotel in center. I think if you add up all the taxi expenses its worth getting something near everything and convenient. It was a pain waiting for the bus then switching over to the subway.
