Lose yourself in our history at the Ouray County Museum, rated by the Smithsonian as one of the best small museums in the country. There is so much to see and do, plan on staying several days. Pets are not allowed at this location.

The Alps Outside Your Door
This modest hotel is a treasure: The rooms are lovely, the bed comfortable, and the setting perfect--right on Main Street in the heart of Ouray. All the rooms appear to have a view of either mountains or historic buildings, and each room has a sitting area outside to enjoy that view. The only drawback was that there was no complimentary breakfast. But otherwise, it was a great value.
Traveler's tip on shopping
Be sure to stroll the main street to find great art galleries and restaurants. A small but well-stocked bookstore is directly across the street. Buy a good hiking map right at the hotel front desk. Best time for fall aspen color: Third and fourth weekends of September.
