Disappointed

We picked this hotel because it was "the closest to Heathrow", but it was actually a 15 minute bus ride away, plus the bus only ran every 30 minutes... The hotel restaurant was awful: expensive, courteous but very slow service, limited menu and the worst steak and fries (we thought something simple would be a safe bet) I have ever had in England. Next time, we will try one of the many other hotel options in the area.

OK hotel at Heathrow

Overall, it was good, but the restaurant wasn’t open when I arrived and there was just bar service for food which took ages.

Heathrow Stay

This is a quality hotel but really bad service, which I feel for the price and star rating should not be the case. I find sometimes though with a airport hotel , even a brand name the service seems to drop. I personally do not understand this but I know this from experience that with a high volume hotel and not much repeat business seem to get away with it. Rooms great, location great and if you are not looking for service its fine

The local bus service is free to the airport from infront of the hotel so you can save £4.00 and more frequent

Good Stay

This hotel was very good - quiet and comfortable. It was within a 5-10 minute taxi ride to the airport. The restaurant food was very good - highly recommend the buffet. It was just what we needed!

Definitely Stay Here!

This hotel was perfect except that the restroom sink water was always too HOT!!! The staff was extremely helpful and welcoming. We sank into the comfortable bed and did not even move until the morning alarm. The breakfast had EVERY imaginable offering! The hotel car to the airport was the same price as a taxi; in additional to being convenient, the Mercedes was clean and immediately available for us. We are looking forward to our next stay at the Renaissance Heathrow Airport!

Very convenient location next to airport, yet very quiet!

I stayed for a week long business trip to London. The location was a key reason; near to Heathrow Airport terminals and the various business locations I visited throughout the greater London region. I used the expansive train, subway and bus lines to easily travel to my various destinations, which was cost effective, easy and convenient to use. I must say I didn’t notice the airplanes landing or taking off adjacent to the hotel, the windows are double paned; thus, there was little noticable noise. The facilities were clean and visually pleasant for both business and social gatherings. The staff was very professional, attentive and kind. I would certainly stay again for future visits to London, and would recommend it to others.

Traveling from Central London, take the Picadilly subway line towards Heathrow, but exit the Hatton Cross station (last prior to terminals). Then take the 285 Bus at Station A at the Bus Terminal outside (no cost) to drop you off right next to Renaissance Hotel (Bath Road - either Heathrow Visitors Center or Nene Road). These bus stops are the last stops prior to the airport terminals. Note: There is another bus 285 that stops at Station C at the Bus Terminal; DON’T take this bus, it travels to Kingston! Just remember to only catch the bus at Station A at the Bus Terminal. Ask the driver to confirm, if you’re unsure!

Good location

Stayed there overnight before early flight out of Heathrow. Had read reviews complaining about difficulty in getting to the airport but I found the Hoppa bus very easy with a separate bus for Terminal 4 & 5. These run every 30 minutes and only take 12 minutes when there is little traffic around. Convenient for rental car depots with some within walking distance. Did not use any of the restaurant facilities

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

There is at least one pub (The Pheasant) within walking distance where you can get excellent meals at reasonable price

At last - The perfect Airport Hotel!

Liked everything about it - Room was super, beds comfortable, got there late but room service was no problem and the food was good. There was a tea and coffee maker and internet service. the shuttle bus to the hotel was simple and I would definitely want to stay there again!

children under 15 go on the shuttle for free!!! was tired when I got on with my daughter and didn’t know this!! the driver charged me for her without asking her age and I paid like an idiot!!

Great hotel for stop over in London

We toured London for three days prior and we came back to London for an extra day after our Scandinavian cruise. The hotel is accessible to public transportation and very close to the Windsor Castle. I was able to take my daughter to see the Windsor Castle before we took our flight to Paris. The hotel was crowded when we checked in due to a school function, I guess it was a prom night, but it was quite the next day. Overall, we were pleased with our short stay at the Renaissance.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

Don’t forget, if you are staying close to the airport, the public transportation is free to get back to the airport. Just check the bus schedule, give plenty of time, and you don’t have to pay. If your flight is in Terminal 5, there is a public bus in front of the hotel that will take you to the airport for free! If you want to go to the Windsor Castle, take the bus to Terminal 5 for free then take the bus going to the Windsor Castle.

Excellent reliable airport hotel

Very helpful, reliable, professional staff. My wife and I have stayed at the Renaissance Heathrow on five previous transfer stay-overs. We like it and will continue to stay there in the future.

Skip breakfast

Breakfast is a buffet and not worth the 17.50 pounds. I would skip this altogether, unless you are ravenous and can eat enough to substantiate it. Food quality was also poor.

Great place to stay before flight back to the States

This hotel was comfortable and accomodating. Include the breakfast. It is worth it.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

To get to the hotel from the city...take the tube to Heathrow and the free bus from the airport to the hotel. It drops off across the street and picks up right in front of the hotel. The airport information desk will give you the number for the free buses to the hotel and the hotel will give you a list of free buses from the hotel to the airport.

Convenient and Easy

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Renaissance at Heathrow. It was convenient to the airport, with multiple bus routes running nearby, as well as the Hotel Hoppa shuttle bus. It was not difficult to get to/from the tube, either. The hotel featured a very good English breakfast, and the bar and dance area were hopping in the evening. I had a great time and will stay again if I return to London.

Tired but clean hotel -good value for the price

The hotel definitely needs a renovation, but the rate for the weekend was relatively good. Surely a Renaissance Airport Hotel anywhere should at least have a free shuttle to the terminals instead of telling people to "take a taxi". And also "free" Internet in the rooms for business clients ( or rather include in the rate than have it as an "extra").

Traveler's tip for business travelers

Be ready to pay heavily for Internet and for taxi to/from your terminal. If renting a car and leaving in the morning, keep it with you and pay overnight parking at the hotel so you can return to car rental and take free shuttle from there to your terminal.

No complaints

A solid choice very close to Heathrow Airport. Don’t remember much to be honest due to short stopover, but clean and comfortable.

Close to Heathrow

We had an overnight layover at Heathrow, and this hotel was a great place to stay. The rooms were clean, but the hotel is still in the midst of a renovation. Our room did not have a working minibar, but it was there. The lobby area is open and clean, but the bloody mary’s are 9 Pounds each. That seemed a bit steep to me. They are good, but not that good. For dinner we went to a local pub called the Pheasant. It was great! Friendly service and excellent food. We took a hotel arranged car to the restaurant, and were shocked at the 10 Pound charge for going about 4 blocks. The driver said it was the minimum price. We walked back to the hotel. For an early morning flight out of Heathrow, I would stay here again. The Hop A Bus, stops in front of the hotel frequently, and it’s a 10 minute ride back to the airport.

Traveler's tip

If you don’t want to eat in the hotel, ask for direction to The Pheasant pub.

Not impressed

I’m sure this was a state of the art hotel back in the 60’s when it was built. Now, it is looking very tired. Sort of matches the decline of air travel from the glamorous days of the 60s to now - it’s a hassle and you just want it to be over with as soon as possible. That’s how my stay at the Renaissance felt. This place could really use a renaissance.

Will the price remain so good?

This is a small hotel in an excellent location. I was surprised by the rate as the hotel provided free Internet (very fast), breakfast and a happy hour snack. It’s also located close the the zoo and other much more expensive hotels. Once the renovations are complete I expect the price will rise. But, in the mean time this was an excellent location and value and I woudl stay there again.
