time share hotel with nice lazy river
The time share falls short of a regular hotel--no nice lobby, only shampoo provided with no conditioner, and no room service. It is worth staying for the lazy river which is awesome.

Fantastic Layout and Amenities.
Hotel is very modern and clean. The swimming areas are first rate and the beach is fantastic, only a two minute walk from anywhere in the hotel. Excellent workout room, recently renovated and expanded. Rooms are equipped with microwave oven, small refrigerator, and coffee maker. Our hotel hair dryer burned out on the first day and was replaced within 15 minutes by the maintenance staff. All hotel employees were very congenial.
Traveler's tip on local attractions
Only a short walk from many restuarants and shopping areas. Downtown, with more shopping, is only 10 minutes by taxi or rental car, available at the hotel. Suggest grocery shopping for small breakfast and lunch items, as food at eateries is expensive.

Great for families with kid.
Hotel was fine. Room service was great. If you are a pool only person you won’t have any complaint. If you wanted to go into the ocean for a swim you would have to walk over to the next hotel. The water area that was designated for the Surf Club was very muddy and smelled like rotten eggs because of gas pockets below.

A lot of great places to eat. Check with the people at the front desk for ’their’ favorites. They live there & and eat there. Didn’t go wrong with any of their suggestions.

Nice for families NOT for couples..
This hotel is mainly for families. Lots of kids running around especially around the lazy river. If you are going to Aruba for a romantic get away don’t go to the Surf Club. There are better hotels on the island, Radisson.

Beautiful resort
We stayed at the Surf Club for a week at the end of September 2008 in the new "Navigator" building and were very impressed with the property. One bedroom units were clean, spacious and fully equipped (with stacked washer/dryer). This resort has a wrist band system for pool access which appears to have moderated the reported problem with overcrowding at the lazy river pool. The beach was a bit of a disappointment for us (after nine visits to Aruba we prefer Eagle Beach) but was being widely enjoyed by others. We rented a car because we travel widely on the island, but the resort is a walkable distance to the new mall and restaurant area of the "high rise" area (for pedestrian safety we suggest using the access road behind the resort, not the main drag).

What we expected....
Our trip was great and the Marriott was what we expected. We won’t be in a rush to go back but will consider for future trips. A few things that bothered us were the same as most of the other postings. My wife and I are 30 with no kids and there is zero nightlife outside of the casino. The other thing that is really annoying is the fact that people can hold pool chairs for the whole day with their towel. I didn’t think this would really bother me but it did. The last day we were there I walked out to the pool and swithed some towels and threw others in the pool. I would suggest you do the same. It was pretty funny to see the reactions.

The Jolly Pirate trip was great and the Jeep Safari tour was equal if not better.

Ok resort but not nearly the best available
The rooms are great, big and comfertable. The beach is crowded and the water is not clear. The pool is nice but not great, lots of people and path ways are congested. Hotel location is a negative. It is located at the high rise far end. There are businesses you have to walk around to get into the shopping area and the beach path does not come down this far. If you can get a great deal than give it a try. If not stay somewhere else. There are many options.

Marriott Surf Club
Service was slow. Our room was not always cleaned and/or tidied up. Bed was extremely hard,or over-firm mattress.

Surf Club
We were planning on purchasing a timeshare, however we wanted to rent it first. When we checked into our room our doors did not lock, it took them 4 hours to send someone to fix it, they finally moved us to another room, it was about 9:00 PM, my husband was stuck in the room while my daughter and I went to get something to eat. Front desk service was rude. Cable TV was not working properly either. Considering this is a new hotel the the maintenece has not been kept up very well. Would not stay here again and would not purchase the timeshare, however would stay at the regular hotel instead! The kichenette in our room was very convienient.

Take the bus into town instead of taxi.

room was very clean.we were a little confused at first as to where things were located eg pool lazy river,and the beach but after the first day we found everything we needed it is really a very nice clean place to stay

shopping is not too far from hotel you can take a bus to just about anywhere you need to go.Lots of places too eat, some exspensive but most are resonable and the food is good.

surf club
we used to go merriot casino this is third time this time we choose surf club but i never ever go again there why, phone wasn’t working, myson got bittin by spider , in the room they didn’t even have doctar on promies they have had send us hospital if you can call a hospital , that didn’t work out , and they have find privet doctar , went there got medican ,thay want us to move some other room we said ok , but no body helped us to move , after we moved why did’t you let us know funny becasue you are telling me to move even ask help no body showed up , phone wasn’t working to call . I tell you that was worst vacation ever we had
