La Presidence

Great hotel for the family and great location. Only one flaw and my wife figured out how to overcome. There was a police station near by and sirens went off all night, so we kept the fan on in the bathroom to create white noise to muffle the sirens. This did the trick. Would stay there again good value.

big Montreal surprise!

Booked this hotel on the fly as a getaway at the end of a business trip and was rewarded. From the first bonjour, to the considerate barman who made the perfect martini (twice), to my gorgeous room and warm cookies every detail of service and facility was absolutely wonderful. So the elevator was a little quirky, but the staff, the great location and the exceptional value of this place make it a natural YES. Stay here, enjoy, have no regrets.

Right around the corner is a fantastic cafe and espresso bar with excellent breakfast, lunch and plane snacks. An excellent neighborhood with terrific values.

Great family hotel/apartment!

The room had a separate bedroom with non-locking sliding doors (opaque window panes), a sofa bed, a bathroom (with two entry points), a full kitchen and 2 televisions. La Presidence shares the building with the DoubleTree. Go directly to the DoubleTree side and check in there. The ac worked great. Except for one day, the internet connections were fast and reliable. The kitchen was perfect. Full stove, full fridge, micro, toaster, coffee maker, plates, glasses, coffee cups, silverware, cooking utensils, etc. Housekeeping kept our place spotless. The pool was small, but perfect for our young kids. The fitness center was small (just 2 treadmills, 1 elliptical, 1 bike, 2 weight benches, various hand weights and several exercise balls) but fine for a quick workout. The Sherbrooke Metro was located within the same block of the hotel (along the Berri Street side of the hotel). Keep the kitchen clean or else there is a $25 charge. Service was not very reliable. We called the front desk 3 times to have a rollaway delivered. It never arrived. Finally, the 3rd adult in our party decided to just sleep on the couch, as our kids were sleeping on the sofa bed mattress that we placed directly on the carpet. Another time, we could not get the water to turn on the shower. We called the front desk and they said they would send someone right away. Again, after several calls, no visit. Eventually we found out it was a problem throughout the building.

Bring strollers for your young children. Montreal is flat in some areas and hilly in others. However, fold up your strollers and make your kids walk into and out of Metro stations. There are stairs everywhere with the occasional escalator.
