Good hotel with a need for some upgrades

This hotel is basically pretty good. The club floor has only the minimum one would expect. the club floor breakfast was very poor, but as a club floor person you could go to the main breakfast which wasn’t bad. Service is good; internet access v good including wireless in the lobby and broadband in the rooms. Good location if doing business in this part of Hanoi and/or want to be a bit closer to the airport.

Traveler's tip on dining

Vine Restaurant nearby is very good and has great slate on the floor!

Great for a short trip.

We wanted somewhere with easy access to airport,so this hotel was perfect. All facilites that you could want from a short stay.I did not think the Buffet food was that great , but we did eat late. Very clean and staff very helpful.

Bad Service Bad Buffet

There were a number of problems with our stay at this Sheraton, and none of them were resoloved to our satisifaction. First, they have no policy, but they kept running out of VND money so we could never cash more travelers checks over 100$. They suggested we borrow money from a friend. . . which we had none, that’s why we were staying in a hotel! Next, there buffet service sucked and the food was cold and the same menu every other day. They are very attentive your first day, but after that, it’s all up for grabs. We had a family emergency that we needed to cancel part of our reservation, death in the family, and they were unwilling to accomadate refunding any money until after we spoke with 4 different people. Even at that, they never seemed sympathedic or understanding of our situation, a thousand miles away from our family. Our room was beat up - the window curtains were falling down and you could tell by the 6 plaster holes that they had tried to fix this in the past. Also, the door handle to the bathroom kept coming off, and after notifiying the hotel more than once, it was never fixed. Would not recommend this hotel.

Loved the Sheraton!

We booked the Sheraton for our remaining nights in Hanoi after coming back from Halong Bay and absolutely loved it there. The service was much better and friendlier than the other 5-star hotel we stayed at. The rooms were bigger and cleaner and there was a complimentary tray of fruits on arrival. Everyday we received bottled water and chocolate. Coming from Japan, we found the prices so reasonable compared to Japanese hotels. Would definitely stay there again.

Traveler's tip

Tip from the hotel guy: Taxis that have a number in a circle are official taxis. If there is no number, than it’s not a real taxi.
