Potsdam's magical landscape might look like a blessing from nature, but it's actually the result of hundreds of years of human endeavour. Landscape artists, architects, and gardeners toiled in pursuit of paradise on Earth and created a realm fit for their kings.

Visit the mock-16th-century Cecilienhof Palace and view the lakeside Marble Palace with its Greek temple ruins, and the dreamlike Babelsberg castle. Your guide will describe how the cruel realities of 1945 shattered this tranquil world. See where an American president, a Soviet dictator and a British prime minister sealed the fate of Germany and Europe, and where political opponents of the East German dictatorship were imprisoned. Your tour ends in the delightful, 18th-century Sanssouci Palace.

    Commentary is in English only. Transportation to Potsdam is not included; you must purchase a public transport ticket from your guide (tickets cost Euro 5.20). Tours operate in all weather. Children younger than 12 participate for free.
