The more than 70 exhibits at theNew England Aquarium contain almost every type of marine creature imaginable, from the lumbering, 500-pound (227 kg) seaturtle to a tapestry of colorful tropical fish. Flap your arms at the penguins and then admire the Giant Ocean Tank—a 4-story, 200,000-gallon (757,082-liter) tank is home to sea turtles, sharks, and tropical fish. Get close to charismatic seals at the New Balance Foundation Marine Mammal Center, open in July 2009. Finally, cradle a sea star or horseshoe crab at the Edge of the Sea, a hands-on tide pool.

The work of the New England Aquarium extends beyond Central Wharf in Boston. They participate in research and conservation projects worldwide, from studying the critically endangered North Atlantic Right Whale to saving the endangered Hector's dolphin in New Zealand.

Simons IMAX® Theatre: Experience a thrilling, up-close encounter on a 6-story IMAX® screen! Through the magic of IMAX® and IMAX® 3D, you can visit animals and habitats that are too large, too small, or too endangered to exhibit in an aquarium.

    Note:
    The Whale Watch tour is not included with any of the above admissions. Admission to the Simons IMAX® Theatre is not automatically included with admission to the New England Aquarium; you must purchase a combo ticket to receive admission to both. Reservations are not required for admission to the New England Aquarium, but you may want to reserve a time to attend the Simons IMAX® Theatre. A special feature such asU2 3D is not included and would need to be purchased separately at the aquarium. Children ages 3 and younger are admitted free of charge.

    Reservations are not required for admission to the New England Aquarium, but you will want to reserve a time to attend the Simons IMAX® Theatre; please contact the Simons IMAX® Theatre in advance of your arrival.
