Reserve a seat for a memorable night of Indian art and culture. Centuries-old Kathakali has evolved into a highly structured dance performance based on ancient Indian lore. Feel the drama of this formerly hours-long performance in a modified and shorter form adapted for the proscenium stage. The ambience is set by a small band of singers and accompanists, while performers convey the meaning of the music and lyrics with a nonverbal language of hand gestures, eye movements, and facial expressions. Aided by extravagant full-body costumes and face makeup, the performers relate the dramatic tales of angry demons, virtuous kings, and all the classic characters of mythical battles between good and evil.
