Details

The creators of Nowa Huta sought to undermine the aristocratic and intellectual character and traditions of Cracow by erecting a huge "Lenin" Steelworks that offered a "healthy working class" neighborhood to locals.

Your tour itinerary follows this route:
Start in the very heart of Nowa Huta—Central Square, a place where an enormous statue of the city’s patron, Lenin, stood for years.

From the town’s square, you’ll continue to the Steelworks, now owned by the Mittal Steel Company. Though closed to the public, you can admire its size and learn about its history.

Next, you’ll visit The Museum of Nowa Huta holds exhibitions dedicated to the history and tradition of the city.

Following the museum, you’ll head to the Nowa Huta Cross, which symbolizes the bloody fights for the establishment of a church in the town, followed by a stop at "Lord’s Ark Church."

Then you’ll visit a monument commemorating the site of Bogdan Włosik’s death, which is dedicated to all victims of Martial Law, imposed in Poland in 1981.

Your journey into the past ends in a typical communist-era bar on the Avenue of Roses, where, over a glass of communist time’s alcohol, you will find out more about the way of life under the communist rule.
