Los Angeles, often called "The Cultural Capital of the West Coast," has become a world center for contemporary art and architecture, a great deal of which is showcased in downtown LA. Covering 8 city blocks and led by knowledgeable guides, this walking tour focuses on a variety of cultural landmarks, artists, and architects, including:

  • Library Tower (the tallest building on the west coast)
  • Frank Gehry
  • Walt Disney Concert Hall
  • Dorothy Chandler Pavilion
  • Alexander Calder
  • Museum of Contemporary Art
  • Thom Mayne
  • Joan Miro
  • Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels (largest cathedral in America)
  • Robert Rauschenberg

    An added plus is the tour's "Live-Audio" listening system. The guide broadcasts commentary over a headset microphone to participants, who use audio headsets with individual volume control. Note that this is not a pre-recorded tour but rather a way of making sure everyone can hear, no matter where they're standing or what city noises surround them.

    Noon, from the Tour Center inside the Bradbury Building

    Return time and location:
    1:45 PM, to point of departure

    Reservations are required. You will not be guaranteed a place on this tour without contacting Red Line Tours at least 24 hours prior to your desired tour date. Children under age 9 participate for free.

    After you book your activity, follow these 3 easy steps:
    1. Print your voucher; locate the voucher in your travel confirmation e-mail or in the My Trips/My Itineraries link on the site.
    2. Follow the redemption instructions on your voucher; it iscritical to do this before you depart.
    3. Take all vouchers with you; you must redeem one voucher per person.

    Exchange your voucher for activity:
    Reservation confirmation is required. You will not be guaranteed a place on this tour without contacting Red Line Tours at least 24 hours prior to your desired tour date. The customer service phone number appears on your printed voucher(s). On the day of your tour, please present your voucher(s) at the redemption address listed on your voucher(s). Please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the scheduled time of your activity.

    Cancellations and Changes: This Activity can be changed or cancelled without penalty at any time prior to two days before the scheduled start of your trip. The scheduled start of your trip is defined as your hotel check-in date, your departure date of the originating flight, or the date of the Activity if the Activity was booked without a flight or a hotel.
