Details

Using the most sophisticated colored garden lighting available, this new attraction is sure to wow and amaze with over 700 spectacularly colored night lights. This unique nighttime spectacle is open daily until late to give you the opportunity to witness this rich nature park in an enchanting new way. Also new to Rainbow Springs at night is a walk-through kiwi enclosure, allowing you an even closer glimpse of New Zealand’s national icon where these curious birds scamper around to forage and feed.

Each day, over two million liters of pure spring water wells up into the natural springs at the park, providing an ideal backdrop for getting up close to New Zealand’s native and endemic species of plant and animal. Check out your complimentary map of the park to decide where you’d like to start your adventure, put on your MP3 audio headsets to hear all the information and fun facts you’d ever want to know, and get started discovering natural New Zealand.

Gaze into the various pools to see rainbow, brown, and tiger trout. Feed these beautiful fish with food available at the park entrance, or step into the underwater viewing pool to see these fish eye to eye.

While walking through the various plant species, like the black fern—one of the largest tree ferns in the world—and the huge imported redwoods, keep your eyes peeled for wildlife like rainbow lorikeets, emus, and wallabies. Look down low for the tuatara, a “living fossil” that has been around for over 225 million years—since the Triassic period. This amazing reptile can survive over a year without eating!
