The San Diego Zoo's Wild Animal Park is a wildlife preserve that’s home to over 3,200 animals, representing over 400 species. Exhibits and activities African Aviary: Designed to show a wide variety of African birdlife, you can be close to and often interact with these feathered beauties.
Australian Rain Forest: A slice of Australia has been brought to Southern California; stroll down a sun-dappled path past stands of eucalyptus trees, Tasmanian tree ferns, and a waterfall that tumbles gently down the hillside along an artificial rock streambed.
Condor Ridge: Celebrates the diversity of North American habitats and animals unique to this continent; inhabitants include: Desert bighorn sheep, bald eagle, desert tortoises, and California condors, plus pine, spruce, fir, and redwood trees.
Elephant Overlook: View two large exhibit areas of elephant herds: one for the Asian elephant group and another one for the African elephants.
Field Exhibits: Houses herds of exotic wildlife! There are several different and separate areas, based primarily on the geographic regions the animals come from in the wild. The only way to see all of these areas is to take a safari on the Park’s Journey Into Africa Tour.
Heart of Africa: Get close to majestic African wildlife, which includes some of the most widely recognized and admired animals in the world, including: okapis, giraffes, warthogs, ground hornbills, and cheetahs.
Hidden Jungle: This climate-controlled environment allows you to see some of the most delicate and fascinating creatures around, including neo-tropical birds and tropical plants.
Kilimanjaro Safari Walk: A 2-mile (3.2-kilometer) backcountry path leads you to some of the most scenic areas of the Wild Animal Park, including: the botanical gardens, past lions, tigers, and elephants, Kilima Point, and the East Africa Field Exhibit.
Lion Camp: Come nose to nose with a lion, literally! Experience up close how this pride of lions interacts with each other.
Lorikeet Landing: Walk through a replica of the forests of Australia and New Guineathe natural habitat of the rainbow lorikeetand lend a hand (literally) in feeding these jewel-like birds.
Nairobi Village: A lush, bustling, and exciting village of shops, restaurants, animal exhibits, and activity centers.
