The Jimi Hendrix exhibition is filled with rare artifacts that illustrate both the personal and superstar aspects of the guitar hero, from his childhood growing up in Seattle to his time on the world stage.
Sound and Vision
This interactive exhibition allows visitors to explore EMP|SFM's collection of videotaped oral history interviews in a comfortable, club-like setting and is the first exhibition to integrate both EMP and SFM.
TheQuest for Volume traces the development of the guitar as it got larger, went electric, and finally came to dominate the stage as the signature instrument of rock 'n' roll.
Trace the development of the Northwest music scene, from its beginnings as a small, isolated community to its status during the grunge years as the center of the rock universe.

In science fiction, the homeworld is where many adventures begin or end. In this gallery, you will experience the building blocks of science fiction—its big ideas, its relationship to culture and science, and the qualities that make it a unique art form. You’ll see icons and memorabilia from popular culture as well as delve deeper into its rich past.
Launch yourself on a journey of discovery through exhibits and activities devoted to strange worlds, faster-than-light spaceships, and amazing technology tat takes us beyond the limits of time and space.
Brave New Worlds
Each era of science fiction has served as a reflection of the concerns, aspirations, and predictions of its time. Through characters and storylines, science fiction asks “How should we live?” and “What are the consequences of the choices we make?” With Brave New Worlds you’ll encounter a sampling of ideas regarding culture, government, freedom, and the challenges that face our complex societies.
The alien “other” takes center stage here, from the bug-eyed monsters of the past to the biologically and psychologically complex aliens of today’s cutting edge science fiction. Come face-to-face with extraterrestrials, androids, artificial intelligence, and numerous other beings.

Winter hours: 10 AM 5 PM

Children ages 5 and younger are admitted free of charge.
