A scenic morning drive along the Torrens River past the Kangaroo Creek Reservoir brings you to sleepy Williamstown. Enjoy a sweet treat at Lydoch Bakery where delicious European-style baked goods are as authentic as its imported Bavarian interior. Continue to the Barossa Reservoir’s “Whispering Wall” for a demonstration of this dam’s acoustic marvels—not to mention an opportunity to take in great views and flourishing flora and fauna.
A short trip to Wolf Blass Winery affords you the opportunity to taste some of Barossa’s most famous fruity whites and flavorful reds. Take in the panorama of the valley’s green undulating hills at Menglers Hill before stopping at Kaesler Winery. Over a century of wine production has made this winery a noted member of the region’s winemakers. Enjoy lunch here as well as a tasting of this winery’s unique wines.
After lunch, drive to Australia’s oldest German settlement—Hahndorf. Wander the elm-lined lanes home to quaint cottages, craft shops, and tearooms. On your return trip, pass a number of villages nestled in the lush Adelaide Hills including Bridgewater with its picturesque mill and waterwheel.
