A Pleasant Surprise

My wife and I had two nights to stay in Kauai before our we checked into our timeshare. After reading some reviews about the local hotels, we decided to stay here and were very happy with that choice. It was the off-season (last week of October) and so the hotel seemed to be only about 25% full and so it was very quiet during our stay. The room was very clean and comfortable. We had an upper floor room, facing the mountains (which was a very pleasent surprise to see the first morning, since we had arrived at night). Even the chickens were not too bad, compared to other places we have stayed on Kauai (there were 3 resident dogs on site, so maybe they kept the Roosters at bay). The staff was very friendly and helpful. The complimentary breakfast was perfect for us (coffee, fresh fruit, muffins, toast). If you arrive at night, make extra sure that you have good directions, as it is not a very easy place to find when it’s dark. Even with a map and directions, I had to stop twice and ask for directions. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay there and would easily do it again.

I will definitely return to this one.

My husband & I loved the Kauai Inn -- it’s in a perfect location (Lihue), right in the middle of the Island. Many people stay further up the East coast in Princeville - or further west, in Poipu (and they pay A LOT more) -- but we got a beautiful room overlooking the pool & the mountains at a very reasonable price. They also serve a nice breakfast buffet. Since we wanted to tour and see as much of the Island as we could, this turned out to be a perfect location to go either way on the Island ... and it was also ’next door’ to a lot of the activities we did (helicopter tours; ATV Ranch) -- and easy to get to & from the airport. The service at Kauai Inn was great, too; this is one place we will definitely stay again.

Don’t go to Kaua’i without taking time to drive the Waimea canyon - it’s so beautiful; and the Na Pali coastline, also. You can’t see Na Pali unless you take a helicopter or boat trip - but both give you different views. If you can’t afford the helicopter ride, that’s okay, because snorkeling, OR taking a sunset cruise along Na Pali coastline was just as good (or BETTER!). One other ’must see’ would be the cliffs at Makawehi Point. You can ’climb’ the cliffs (to get spectacular views of the ocean crashing below) by taking an easy (partially hidden) path way at the end of Shipwreck Beach -head for the end of the beach, right by the Po’ipu Bay Resort Golf Course. The views up there are absolutely stunning -- and there’s also hiking up there, if you like.

Little too far off, but

The hotel is a little too far off. No shops, restaurants, or beach in walking distance. Recommended if you only need a decent place to spent your nights.
