Kaanapali shores is great value
Hotel was teriffic, especially with kids. Full kitchen, washer/dryer definitely was a big bonus - very roomy condos. Location is very central and convenient.

IMPORTANT - Ask for an ’owner upgraded’ room, otherwise you’ll be sorry
Our reservation included a 1 bdrm garden view w/ a full kitchen; instead we recieved an extremely outdated, dirty 2 bdrm, view of the parking lot and a nasty kitchen. After a long day of flying, grocery shopping and dealing with a 1 yr old, all my husband & I wanted was a clean room & a shower. I was thoroughly dissapointed when I walked into the room we had paid for. I went straight to the kitchen & was disgusted to see stained counters, paint peeling off cabinets & stick drawers. I was reluctant to look in the bdrms before I called the front desk but did anyway only to find a potent, acidic smell in the bthrm, dirty walls & stained bathtub & sink. This was the hotel from hell. When I called the front desk to ask for a different room I was told all ’owner upgraded units’ were booked and a room would not be available until the following day 2pm. We were extremely disappointed but had no choice but to stay there unpack just to repack the following morning (including all of our groceries), we wasted 1/2 a day the next day getting re-situated! The person at the front desk seemed unphased by our dissatisfaction with our room & didn’t offer to comp us anything for our inconvenience, not even an apology was extended. I will say the 2nd room we moved into was 100% better but I was already so upset by the lack of couth with which our situation was handled that I would never stay here again, nor would I recommend this hotel to anyone.

Camp Kaanapali is offered to children ages 5 - 12. Camp activities include a variety of Hawaiian cultural and outdoor-based activities such as hula dancing, ukulele lessons, beach exploration, lei making, sand art, kite making/flying, swimming, scavenger hunts, games, arts, and crafts.
2009 Camp Kaanapali schedule:
One-time registration fee of $10 per child includes a t-shirt. Daily rate of $25 per child includes meals. Registration must be made 24 hours in advance upon arrival at the resort. Registration is held at 8 AM at the Camp Kaanapali Center in room 135. Friday evening sessions include dinner. Space is limited to 16 participants per session. Children who are ill may not attend. Camp Kaanapali is located at the Aston Kaanapali Shores and is available to registered guests of all Aston properties on Maui.
