Awesome !!!

We only spent 2 days in Kauai, and wish we would have stayed longer. The resort was very clean and staff was very helpful. There is a restaurant bar on the property and very friendly service and good food and drinks. Safeway is right across the street so if you are staying for a longer period of time, stock up on some groceries. The full size kitchens are great. We made breakfast and had all the utensil and pans needed for our meal. I loved it. Beds are comfy. Patios are relaxing, Garden bath tub was a nice touch. Upgrades galore in this unit. Granite counter tops, Stainless Steel Appliances, Beautiful!!!

Go to the Safeway to buy groceries instead of eating out the whole time.

Best in Kauai

If you want to stay in a beautiful condo surrounded by gorgeous gardens and conveniently located, this is the place for you. Highlights for us were the incredibly comfortable beds, the "river pool", and the overall beauty of the facility. It’s located directly across the street from Safeway, Longs, and (better yet) Papayas, a natural food market. Look for Papayas in the same shopping center but tucked away in the back. This was a perfect location, too, because of the convenenience of traveling to all other parts of the island. I would return here again, if we’re ever able, and hope to bring out children next time. (This visit was to celebrate out 25th anniversary!)

You can’t beat Kintaro’s for sushi. Duke’s--located at the Marriott--was the most beautiful place we ate. Ohana (in Kapaa) for authentic Hawaiian food. Sweet Marie’s bakery in Kapaa provides the scrumptuous gluten-free baked items. Definitely go to the Smith Family Luau. Having grown up in the Hawaiian culture, I can tell you it is an authentic luau experience. The HoloHolo morning snorkle trip was wonderful! Best beach snorkeling was at Poipu, where I swam with a sea turtle and saw two Hawaiian monk seals. Rent your gear from Snorkel Bob’s for quality equipment,. I would recommend getting a GPS with your rental car to help find your way around.

Exceeded Our Expectations, Will Go Back

This resort is absolutely fabulous! I wasn’t sure if I wanted to be on the east side of Kauai--I heard it was busier, not as beautiful. But our family of four loved Waipouli. It’s easy to drive to any of the other shores if you have a rental car. The hotel staff was always friendly and accommodating. Our two toddlers loved the water slides and lagoon pool (and we were allowed to use pool toys, contrary to other reviews). The beach in front of the hotel isn’t safe for swimming, but is great for strolling. There’s even an umbrella table and chairs on the sand. The bar/grill has basic fried food and smoothies and live entertainment a few nights per week. Safeway, Cold Stone Creamery, ABC (beach store), Starbucks, and other stores are right across the street. Our 2-bedroom unit was incredibly clean and up-to-date: flat screen TVs with DVD players in each room, stainless-steel appliances, granite countertops, soaking tubs in the bathrooms, very comfy beds. Pack light--the washer/dryer in the room was very convenient (detergent included). The hotel was quiet. The internet connection was free, but a little slow at times. After about 5 nights in this hotel, we went to another hotel in Poipu. That hotel didn’t work out, so we ended up back at the Outrigger Waipouli for our last 2 nights in Kauai. We highly reccomend this resort to couples and families.

Lydgate Park and beach is a few minutes drive from the resort. This beach is perfect for little kids--very calm and shallow. Great for snorkeling, too. Smith’s Garden Luau is also close to the resort--garden tour, Hawaiian feast, open bar, and a show with hula, drum dances, fire knife dances, etc. A great time!
