Shopping within walking distance, plus the ocean view.
Excellent ocean view room, their own tidal pool, plus an outside lounge to enjoy the ocean crashing in just below while having a cocktail.

I liked this hotel
I liked the oceanfront setting of this hotel and its proximity to shops and restaurants. The view from the pool/bar/restaurant area is wonderful. I stayed in the Alli Tower, but in the future I want to try an oceanfront room in the Lagoon Tower. On the downside, I was annoyed by very loud amplified sound from the luau, even when I shut the patio door to my room.
Traveler's tip on shopping
For great inexpensive produce and flowers, check out the farmer’s market down the street. It’s just a short walk from the Royal Kona.

Kona One Stop Shop
This hotel was right in the heart of the Kona vacation area. Restaurants, shops, launching pier were all within walking distance. The hotel was great, responded quickly when we needed something and had an excellent bar and restaurant built right in. The Aloha spirit was everywhere at this location. I highly recommend it!
