Aston Maui Lu
Resort with secluded cove on Sun Coast beachfront
In sunny South Maui
This rustic resort, renovated August 2008, is divided by a secluded cove and seems to be lost in paradise; set on 28 acres in South Maui, the Maui Lu is located near a Humpback whale education center.

Great location! Ocean front room worth extra money. More like motel than hotel. Great place.
Great ocean front room, pool area is great. Office was across the street with pool, but not a big deal. Staff was extremely helpful and nice. Rooms were older and more like motel, but clean and ocean front!!

Just a place to sleep
If your looking for a hotel room to spend your trip in, this isnt it. If youre just looking for a decent place to sleep after a days activity this place is fantastic. Cheap, close to just about everything since its on kihei rd, and the parking is excellent. The rooms are very dated, but the pool is okay and the ocean is well within walking distance of the garden side rooms.

The ol Maui Lu is what is is!
Weve stayed at the Maui Lu 5 times now, and ee go every year for Halloween, Maui Lu is what it is. It is one of the oldest resorts in Kihei, and prettey much is a very cheap place to stay without all the fancy "new" ammenities. The sweeping lawns & grounds are kept immaculant, the pool was cleaner, and they now have Luaus on the grounds 2 nights a week. If you dont mind old & rundown youll love this nostalgic paradise. This year our room (204) appeared to have been redecorated with new carpet, mattresses, bedspreads & a large compact refer. The door had a large gap in the bottom and all the way around, curtains were old, wrinkeled and there was a strong odor of Mold/mildew in the room and the elevator. We bought a can of Frebreeze tropical spray and all was well. The shower was great and really blasted, the bathroom was pretty good. The air conditioner in this room is much quieter than what weve had in the past, and didnt bother me at all. We spent the money we saved from the room on a great Halloween cruise trip to Lahaina, and the fantastic "Old Lahaina Luau". If you want mints on your pillow, room service, plush terry towels, and a sterile enviroment then this isnt the place for you! If you just want a down home place to go at night, with a room thats Hawaiian rustic then go here and save the bucks for fun.
The Pacific Whale Foundation (Save the Whales) is located at Maalea Harbor north of Kihei. If you join their membership (Its like $45 for a family membership) you get great discounts for snorkeling, sunset, dinner, cocktail and whale watching cruises, the Aquarium, and in their Ocean store. Really cool - If youre a memeber and book a water activitiy the members get the pleasure of boarding the boat & picking you seats first which is nice if theres 120 people on board. Their activities are really great and they take good care of everyone. They are really, really good with children. Their Ocean Store has some great items and you get a member discount. Their boats are made from recyled materials, use biofuel, and everything used on the trips are recycleable. I love this group and what they do for our enviroment.
