Service and beach outstanding, food marginal.

The beach for this hotel was beautiful, water extremely calm and clear. The friendliness and service of the employees was outstanding. Our room was a Jr. Suite with an amazing view. The overhead fan was very loud, so we needed to keep it off. There was also a lack of lighting in the room. Only lights next to the bed and by the table, leaving the dressing area (where full length mirror was located) dark. Even with those issues, we would have considered going back if the food wasn’t so poor. Breakfast was ok, but lunch and dinner was marginal. There was a lack of taste to many items, especially the desserts. The a la carte restaurants were also a big disappointment. We actually went up to the Riu Cancun to compare, and though their entrees had a better taste and more selection, their desserts were also flavorless. Drinks were also a big let down. I don’t think I have ever had more watered down drinks than I had there.

When we were looking for our prearranged transportation, a gentleman hearded us over to an area that is labeled Mexico Tourism. Avoid these people, they are trying to get you to look at condos, but you think they are helping you locate your ground transportation. Just walk right past them!

We are not coming back

This was our first time in Cancun and in Riu Caribe. First two days of our vacation were excellent: nice weather, beautiful beach with white sand and clear blue water in the ocean, good choice of food in the buffet, and different evening shows. By the third day the food didn’t look attractive anymore because it was the same food every day with the tiny changes. The weather has changed dramatically and now there was a heavy rain with heavy wind every single day till the end of our vacation. The air temperature dropped significantly during the rain what prevented us from enjoying the ocean or the swimming pool. Because of the weather, we spend four days at the hotel, where the food was not enjoyable anymore and there was nothing to do during the day except sitting in the bar and having cocktails. This was a disappointing vacation because price we have paid for the hotel was quite high. I think that this was a bad idea to stay for seven days in the same hotel because in three or four days there is nothing exciting anymore as it was on the first two days. If I will be in Cancun sometime in the future I am not coming back to Riu Caribe. Instead, I will book two new hotels one for three days and another for two days to make my vacation more pleasant.
