Unique view, high end accomodation
Elegant hotel decor, super comfortable bed. The hotel room window faces the building’s interior atrium, which has a unique view. I feel like royalty except for the minor negative attitude received from one particular hotel front desk staff. I arrived around 6:30am from a red eye flight. When I checked in to see if the hotel can offer a room earlier, the front desk staff gave me a look. Then explained usually there isn’t any rooms available, but "you’re lucky, I found one room..." I thought this otherwise top rated hotel should have superb customer service, was surprised to find otherwise. Nevertheless, I was able to catch a nap in the room before my seminar at 9am. Would highly recommend it, other hotel staff was pleasant.
Due to recent cut back, some rental car companies do not have staff working at the counter in early morning. You might need to run around to find an attendant to get your rental car.

Great Tampa Hotel
Great hotel, but the friendliness of the service could have been better. I always felt like I was bothering the hotel staff, as their tone and lack of smile suggested I was bothering them.

Nice hotel, walking distance to many restaurants
I was here to take an exam so didn’t get out to the rest of Tampa much. But the hotel was quite nice and within walking distance of many restaurants (all chain, but some pretty decent), the mall and a good drugstore. Be aware that a "bayview" room (which I paid a little extra for) may give you a view of the back of the building, with scarcely any bay visible. Also, the outdoor pool is quite small, doesn’t have good views (due to the high solid wall around it) and is often populated by people smoking. However, this was a nice hotel otherwise, and I would stay here again if I got another cheap rate.
