The Barcelo continues to get our business
It’s a great hotel and staff, with beautiful grounds. The pool and beach areas are the best. We’ve vacationed in Huatulco 5 times now and stayed with Barcelo the last 4. Hope to make it 6 times in 2010!
Get on the beach and watch for Valentino, who always carries a red frisbee. He’s the best and will take you on a small boat to see the bays, snorkel, fish or to motor around to look for dolphins and sea turtles. He’s friendly and honest and we watch for him every time and will do so again as soon as we get back! One note- the connection between Mexico City and Huatulco is so very tight, with customs being the biggest problem. with lines that go on for miles. To date, we’ve just made the connection but only due to it being late to leave. There is only one flight out early afternoon and the drama of whether you will make it or not is unpleasant and there is no direction from the flight crew or in the terminal to understand what you need to do and where to go. It’s similar to the greatest race but we risk it even knowing the potential of being stuck in Mexico City.

Descent Hotel
Had a nice time, good hotel but could improve. Only things that we didn’t like was the buffet food was cold so had to make reservations every night. The buffet food would have been good if it was at least warm no cold. Also, never knew what was going on or was offered at the hotel. The hotel had "parties" or "dinners" for all of the guests which we just happend to stumble upon. Felt like outcasts. Other then these 2 things this hotel is very nice.
