Good Hotel
This was a good hotel: friendly employees, registration easy, free shuttle service from & back to airport, clean facilities, good breakfast (hot items available & good variety), about a mile from Salt Palace but easily walked & good neighborhood. Unfortunately, the person at the registration desk told us that this hotel was going to be torn down during the next year. Too bad because it was comfortable, clean & very affordable. Best Western right next to it may be a good alternative if that happens.
Lots of dining choices in the Salt Palace area--most very reasonable in price, some more expensive.

Adequate but depressing
I don’t recall the price difference between this hotel and others in the same downtown area. I recall it being somewhat less expensive, but the "price" I hadn’t expected was how depressing the hotel felt. The staircase had all three outside light out and so going down to breakfast in the dark of early dawn was depressing. The hallway was underlit with the loud roar of an ice machine making the hallway feel industrial. The steps and walkways were dirty and stained. The dining room where breakfast was serve was also ugly and dim. The one person one occasionally saw there (the cook) was completely asocial and so one was never greeted. The desk clerks were a mix of friendly and helpful with others rather distant. I guess I saved some $, but the whole experience left me feeling dingy.
