Location, Location. Location!!!!!!!
Our trip to Florence was for a mix of work and pleasure. We could only spend one day/night in Florence. Staying in Grand Hotel Cavour was certainly the perfect choice. This hotel is perfectly located maybe 2 blocks away from the Duomo and at comfortable walking distance from every major attraction in Florence. The service was excellent. We asked for a good restaurant and their recommendation did not disappointed. By the way, they did not recommend their own restaurant. Instead, they told us about a place 3-4 blocks away. The hotel terrace is a most go, especially at night. Take your nice Cuban cigar, buy a birra Morretti and enjoy the views. The terrace is not big, but is o decent size so that several groups can enjoy the space. Certainly, been on that terrace at 11 pm with my wife and enjoying a cigar, beer, views of the duomo and many other towers was one of the highlights of the trip. The room was of an acceptable size; certainly more than enough space and really comfortable for two persons. The bathroom was a little bit small. Now, this is my only complain, the tile grouts in the shower were really dirty and disgusting. But then again, YOU ARE IN Florence. Take your shower, get out of there as soon as possible and hit the street, that is were the fun is. Overall, I highly recommend this hotel; certainly I will use it again in a future visit to Florence.

If Location is Most Important
If you want to stay in the middle of everything this is the place. BUT be willing to sacrifice quality. The Carpet was disgusting and the beds HARD. Our room was like a cave, which we knew we got a good deal on Expedia but we didnt realize it was at the sacrifice of a decent room. The Breakfast was ok. There is a great patio on the roof with great views and places for pictures but they dont utilize it, they had set up a really small bar and there was NO action up there, they should have waiters up there for breakfast. But the staff at the desk were awesome, very friendly and helpful. Minutes from EVERYTHING.

Great location, beautiful and spacious room!
The location of this hotel is great: just a few minutes walk to the Duomo and other great Firenze sights. Hotel staff was very nice. The hotel is designed beautifully. Our room and the shared spaces are modern with a renaissance vibe. Nice patio on the roof top where you can enjoy drinks in the evenings and admire the views. Breakfast are nice. Our room was quiet and very spacious. The bathroom was the best, it was large, had a nice rain shower, granite flooring and lovely linen. It also had a decent hair dryer. We stayed 4 nights. Parking was not included. 25 euros a day. A little odd fact... when we left on the last day, reception called for our car. The garage driver left our car at the end of the street and brought us the keys. We had to walk a block with our suitcases to our car which was parked on the corner (literally) with its flashers on. Not a terrible thing, but if you are not used to it, and you carry a lot of luggage, it can be annoying. It was a great stay. Hotel is adjacent to a beautiful modern bar - restaurant.
Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay
The Google map to drive to the Hotel is incorrect. Some one way streets have changed their directions recently (Spring 2009) and Google map did not reflect the changes.
