Great Central Spot for a Historic Tour of Philly
Its more a large bed and breakfast than a traditional hotel, but with the best features of each. Its large enough to have privacy: the rooms are in two buildings and upstairs away from the lobby. Its small enough that the front desk knows every guest and helps arrange transport and reservations and anything else you need in Philadelphia. We stayed in a suite and so had a small kitchenette as well. We walked from here down 6-8 blocks into South Philly and the Italian Market. We walked north to Independence Hall and the historic sites. And we walked west into the center of town to restaurants and the Reading Terminal Market. There is bus and subway service that runs east and west across the heart of Philadelphia, and its two blocks away. Heres another bonus: the small restaurant was fabulous for a quiet evening meal. The owners have recently reopened the restaurant through an arrangement with a well known Philadelphia chef and we had a delightful meal and good wine. The menu is not large, but they seemed to prepare everything well, including some fancier items. We loved the Morris House and recommend it highly.
