Bali Spirit Guest Review
The service at the Bali Spirit was up to expectations and we are difficult people to please. Our room was clean but a just a bit more spartan than we anticipated. The shower and loo are outside though very private. Breakfast was included and very ample. The grounds are exceptionally pretty. It is a 30 walk into the middle of town through Monkey Forest, a very good exercise indeed.
Traveler's tip
We were surprised to find that money exchanges would not except our US $50 dollar bills older than year 2000. So be sure to take newer currency.

There are better places to stay at this price point
While our stay was ok, you can stay at nicer places in Ubud for this price. The staff was very helpful - and accomodating, but the room was not so nice and the interiors were old/out of date, especially the bathroom. Also unlike other hotels in Ubud we have stayed at I didn’t like how they charged us to use the transport into town if we didn’t travel at the designated shuttle times or wanted to go somewhere off the shuttle path.

Shabby chic
The friendly and attentive staff, and the lovely gardens at the Bali Spirit more than make up for the somewhat run-down rooms and the lackluster breakfast. If you miss the free shuttle into town, a ride at your convenience will set you back all of $0.50.
