El Cordova Hotel / Coronado - San Diego
My wife and I have stayed on Coronado Island numerous times over the past decade. This was our first stay at the El Cordova and we were very pleased with the room size, location and character of the hotel as well as the value for money spent. The staff was very helpfull and went out of their ways to make our stay a pleasant one. Well definately stay there again.

A beautiful villa and a fantastic restaurant
This property was aesthetically very pleasing, with all the rooms (as far as I know) overlooking the courtyard and pool, with hot tub. The rooms are done in traditional Spanish style, with thick tile on the walls in the bathroom. The rooms (we had a suite) were very clean and comfortable. The shower had exceptional water pressure (apparently low-flow shower heads are not required in southern California) and the flat-screen TVs were wonderful. It was very quiet, particularly between rooms, as the thick walls abated all noise. The front desk personnel were exceptionally helpful and pleasant during our 3-night stay. We ate breakfast at Fuddruckers Bagels, just down the street and since the El Cordova gave us a coupon for a free appetizer at a few local restaurants, including Miguels which is part of the hotel, we ate dinner there. It was very, very good, with very reasonable prices. I will definitely stay at the El Cordova the next time I am fortunate to coach an athlete who qualifies for the Footlocker Cross-Country national championship race.

Love old historic buildings
If you love living in the past or just in enjoy beautiful buildings and gardens, this hotel will intrigue you. The rooms are built around a courtyard filled with tropical plants and decorated with Mexican tiles. Being an old hotel though, does come with some drawbacks. There was no exhaust vent in the bathroom which meant we had to open the window in the bathroom. The window had been sprayed by the shower and was somewhat unsightly. This was the only drawback though and would not prevent me from returning. The rest of the facilities were clean and well maintained.
Traveler's tip on dining
The hotel restaurant has some of the best Mexican food. The other restaurants are mostly within walking distance and provide fare from traditional to eclectic.
