A great stopover point.
The Posada Real is located directly on the beach in San Jose. The beach is great for strolling, not for swimming due to the heavy surf. The pool was clean and well kept, as were the grounds and the rooms. Staff were friendly and helpful. I stayed one night at the beginning of a trip, and returned the night before my departure from Los Cabos 12 days later, and various staff members remembered me by name. One night there was a huge windstorm that knocked down and destroyed some of the cardon in the cactus garden, and by the next morning groundskeepers were on site replacing the damaged plants. I would return again if in the area, although for a longer trip I would stay at a hotel located on a safer beach.

Low key and relaxed
Ive been going to this hotel many years and have always been very satisfied. I fish the Sea of Cortez and the hotel keeps freezer space to freeze the fish Ive caught. If youre looking for a "wild time" this isnt your hotel. The food is excellent in the all-inclusive package. When I was stuck in baja by a hurricane in 2001 the hotel staff and management bent over backwards to take care us. Highly recommend

Hot and Cold
Facilities were nice overall. Cabana and Pool were impressive with the beach right there. The ocean waves seemed to be very rough at all times of the day, not allowing swimming in the water. The outside of the rooms and the grounds were nice, but the hallways in the hotel itself were scary. The door to the room didnt seem to appear too safe and was crooked, allowing plenty of light in from the hallway at night. The floors were tile in the room. My room had a refrigerator, but found out later that it costs another $4/day to run it. My main complaint was the air conditioner. It blasts cold air on both beds at night. Either leave it on and freeze or you turn it off and roast. With weather in the 80s at night, I slept with three blankets with the air conditioner on.
