Good place, would return.
This was a great place for us, mom with kids. We took bikes and they fit fine in the parking spot. Felt safe as car is parked in the inside court and room doors open to inside court. Very colorful and fun. Its not fancy and getting a bit worn but everything worked and was clean. I cant compliment the breakfast but there was decent coffee for me and some carbs for the kids to get us started and avoid melt downs. I think its a deal and fun for the price. We stayed in a room with two beds.

A good option in its area
Hotel del Sol is a motel that has been upgraded, and as such, is among the best options in the neighborhood. The grounds are very nice, the staff was very helpful, and the rooms were comfortable and nicely finished. The neighborhood is nice - indeed it borders probably the nicest residential area of San Francisco - but it is not really convenient for tourists as it is not too close to any tourist destinations. There are nice restaurants and shopping in the area, but they are targeted at the local population rather than tourists (which may be preferrable to many). You CAN walk to Fishermans Wharf, Ghirardelli Square, Fort Mason, or the Presidio (I did), but I suspect that most people will find even those spots a bit too far to walk. There are a number of bus options to get to the Financial District or Union Square, or to Golden Gate Park, while taxis (easy to find) are about $12 to any of those locations.

Hotel Del Sol (or Sore)
We loved the location of Hotel Del Sol....just a few blocks to the Marina, bike path, views...and a few cute neighborhoods with fun shopping and restaurants on Union Street and Chestnut Street. Room was very small and dated. But the worst part was our beds. They were extremely hard, and I was sore from sleeping on them. The elevator is a bit scary too....my daughter was trapped in it for ten minutes, screaming and crying for help.
