Maui Wowie!

Great ocean view from 6th floor. Carpet needed repacement as well as updating decor. But the view made it worth while. Staff very friendly and helpful. Grounds were unbelievable. Swimming everyday and sauna at night to ease all our cares away. Hawaiian shows were entertaining and the sunsets were breathtaking. Restaurant was great if you wanted to eat in with, lots of variety on the menu each night. Would defnetly return. Convenient to everything on the island.

Pleasantly Surprised 11/09

Stayed with 3 family membs during 11/09. Hotel Lobby and grounds are beautiful; 2 pools, lush gardens and right on the beach. They have beach chairs and towels for your use. Hotel has gift shop, restaurant, game room, salon and workout room. Room was nice - one really large bedroom and one smaller br with 2 double beds. we got garden view - and actually could see a bit of the ocean from our balcony. Just ask for a higher room (we were on the 5th floor). Only thing we noticed is that if we didnt keep the kitchen SPOTLESS we got little tiny ants everywhere. once we kept our dirty dishes in the dishwasher we were fine. Across the street is a shopping plaza with a Subway, pizza shop and supermarket. Check prices against the hotel gift shop - some items were actually cheaper in the hotel! But, expect to pay on avg $2 more per item at the grocery store. There is a shuttle that pics up at the next hotel - within 100 feet walking distance. Rides are $1, and takes you to Whalers Village, Lahaina, etc. Nice deal! Overall we really enjoyed our stay. Hotel was nicer than we expected. Some of the hallway carpets were dirty but our room was always clean and bathrooms& kitchen were spotless. Hotel Restaurant is pretty decent as well but pricey for breakfast. In Nov we hardly had many people there and basically had pool and hot tub to ourselves. Happy traveling and enjoy!!!!!!!!

Lahaina has tons of shopping and food. Find an ABC store for gifts. Eat at Kimos in Lahaina. We REALLY enjoyed eating at the Marriott in Lahaina one night - (about a 2 min drive) valet is free and there is a 50% off entree coupon in one of the books. plus they have live entertainment - highly recommend it! Lahania has many free parking lots, so keep an eye out and dont pay parking unless you have to. Tours - there is a tour presentation in the hotel on your first day - check it out if you need info and they don’t pressure you at all, just give info. Concierge is helpful in lobby but note that in Lahaina there is also tour bookees and they appeared cheaper. we booked through hotel and did Hana, surfing lessons at Goofy Food (great) and a helicopter tour. You can skip tours to volcano and Hana, drive yourself and save the money. DO NOT miss West Maui drive - do it yourself -- it was the most beautiful part of our trip. Make sure you take your belongings with you- dont leave in the car! We did Old Lahaina Luau - it was nice, food good, but no fire - if you want fire try a polynesian luau like the Feast at Lele - people raved about that but we didnt get to try it. First night we ate at Malo’s in Lahaina - big mistake. Food was just ok and our bill for four people was almost $200. Very trendy small place but not worth the high price. Drive further into Lahaina and try some of those places instead. as far as flights - we had 4 connections and it was murder. It pays to spend a little more for more direct flights (we flew from BWI). if you can book that way, I highly advise it. Overall, lots to see and lots to do. Make sure to give yourself at least a few days to sit back, relax and do nothing. We probably tried to cram too much into 8 days! Plan to spend at least an extra $1000 on tours, food, etc. Enjoy!
