Could use some updating
This hotel looked pretty fabulous on the website, but on arrival we thought it looked a little "tired". It could use some updating. We tried to check-in at check-in time after a long day of traveling but our room was not ready. It wasn’t ready until 2 hours later, and when we saw it we were very disappointed with its location. It had a patio that looked out onto a not-so-pretty alleyway. We complained and got a better room (with an ocean view), but had to wait another hour in the hotel bar for it. The ocean view rooms DO have an amazing view and the pool area has a nice view out to the ocean and the Santa Monica pier too. The weird thing about this hotel is that you enter in the middle of the hotel, which is the main level from the front. Since we had a 4th floor room, we assumed we were going up - not true! Floors 1-4 are actually below the lobby and have truly bad views. If you stay here, book a high floor room and you will probably be much happier than we were!

Great Location, Very Nice Hotel
This is a wonderful hotel for anyone looking to stay close to the Santa Monica Pier and to be near to miles of gorgeous California beaches. It is also just a short walk to downtown Santa Monica where there are dozens of great restaurants. If exercising is important, it has a full scale health club with state of the art equipment, one of the best I have seen in a hotel. The staff over all is responsive and personable. The only reason I did not give this hotel a perfect score is because guests should not be nickel and dimed or charged extra for every little thing. It costs $10.00 per day to use the health club and parking is $33.00 per day. I was shocked at the condition of the dressing room for men in the health club. It was dirty and unkempt. I even made a comment to the person in charge at the time. In a hotel of this caliber, this is not acceptable. Despite my issues, I would certainly recommend and stay at this hotel again.
