Grand Hotel Central

Great hotel, fantastic location

We only had one night in Barcelona before catching a cruise ship. This was a great hotel. It is centrally located and has everything you need within a short walk. There is a Starbuck’s for breakfast on the corner! I had read some comments prior to booking the hotel about noise. We were there on Halloween so I was a little concerned. It was noisy early in the evening but quiet for the rest of the evening. No noise problems at all.

3 power outages in 2 days on our floor. No fun waking up to no lights!

Pretty hotel but poor infrastructure. Bell staff says it happens all the time.

Amazing hotel in Barcelona - Location,Location,Location

The Grand Hotel Central in Barcelona,Spain was a great choice for ten days of spoiling ourselves in that wonderful city. Located right in the middle of everything between the Gotic Born section and the Raval, a short walk from the La Rambla. Great shopping and restaurants in all price ranges, museums, Cathedrals ( a Giant one right across the street) and easy bus and metro connections to everyplace else, are right outside the door. The room, though small like most European hotel rooms, was clean, well air conditioned and nicely decorated. The beds were fine. The bathroom very nice, but they have the half shower door deal that we could not get used to. Wet floor every time we showered. Bring your own washcloths. Ask for a room in back, but you should still bring earplugs. People party all night long in Barcelona, and every hotel must be near street noise. The room had complete blackout curtains, so we could sleep late when we wanted. A nice library stocked with thousands of books was a comfortable touch that we didn’t spend time in because we were having too much fun in the city. Good staff. All spoke English well and were helpful. Reastaurant looked nice, but there were too many good ones in the city to try, so we never ate at the hotel. We would go back in a minute.

Must see: Anything Gaudi, especially the Temple Sagrada Familia, the Roman ruins under the city (hard to find, enterance is in a bookstore) La Rambla, Gran Teatre Del Liciu opera house, Palace of Music, the museums There is more than you could ever see. Go to the booths on La Rambla with The letter i in a circle on the sign. They have all of the books of attractions and tours. Buy ten ticket bus books rather than pay each time you board. They are also good on the Metro and save you a fortune.Bus Touristic ( the city one) lets you jump on and off all over and gives you discount tickets to most attractions.
