About what I expected for the price
My wife, our two young children and I stayed for two weekday nights. The hotel was comfortable, safe and reasonably quiet and the two (essentially) queen-sized beds accommodated us well. Even though it was early November, we found the room stayed quite warm without ever having to use the fireplace or furnace. In fact, at night it was almost too warm for comfortable sleep (though, we like to sleep in 60 degrees or less, so maybe others would find the temperature to be just fine). We would have opened the sliding door to let the cool night air in, but being on the ground floor, we decided that wouldnt be the safest thing to do (not that the hotel is in a bad area--does Monterey even *have* bad areas?--but thats just common sense). Like most hotels weve stayed in, the housekeeping staff ignored our preference for not replacing our towels every day and in fact they left us with less towels than we started with on the first night. This was a bit of an annoyance because having four people in the room we actually could have used four bath towels. We did not eat at the hotel for any meals, so I cannot comment on that. Similarly, being early November, we did not use the swimming pool or hot tub, though they appeared to be available still. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would probably stay there again, though if we did we would request a room on one of the upper floors.

It was great, But....
The hotel itself was great. However, when I slept in the bed the next day I had what looked like little bites on my hands and legs. They went away after a while but I do believe they were from the hotel, unfortunately. I would of loved to go back to the hotel too.
