Great Value
Great location and value. This is a very nice small hotel. I was there on business and the people/service were great.
Traveler's tip on local attractions
The boat canal is 100ft from the entrance of the hotel. Even if you have no interest in riding the boat it is a very nice place to walk and relax.

great location
We stayed at the Monticello in Mid-April this year. The location is wonderful for shopping, walking, restaurants. Its about a 10-minute walk to the Metro which is safe and easy. Overall, the hotel is a good value. It is a small hotel, that has undergone through renovations, but still needs a little attention to detail. The carpets, although in good condition, smelled of over-deodorizing, especially in the hallways. The elevator didnt always work, which is ok since there are only 6 floors. We had cracks in the window panes of our room. The room was actually quite huge with a separate sitting room. Bathroom is modern and large. Furniture is updated, and the beds, bedding and pillows were really comfortable. I have to say I probably slept better than I usually do in a hotel. As long as the price is reasonable, its worth the stay. Free continental breakfast. Quick valet service. 3.5-4 star.
Traveler's tip on dining
A great place for breakfast is Le Pain Quotidien. Its very organic and has communal tables also, which are actually made from the floorboards of old trains. Lots of breads, danish, omelettes, etc. Only organic milk for your coffee, but its a fun place. It is a little pricey for breakfast though.
