Location location
I have always stayed at the Lancaster for its convenient location and old world charm. However it is now in need of some refurbishment but still completely acceptable. Every time I come to Houston I insist on staying at the Lancaster and have always been very comfortable.
Never take a taxi to the airport There is a reasonably priced town car service available through the hotel

Comfortable Hotel in Downtown Houston
I would recommend the Lancaster for a comfortable and convenient hotel in downtown Houston. It is in the theatre district and just a few blocks from the light rail for easy access to the museum district, Hermann Park and Zoo, Rice University and the Medical Center. My only complaint is about the restaurant located in the Lancaster. We arrived in Houston late in the evening, so decided to have a light dinner in the connected restaurant. My husband and I didnt closely examine the menu, and just ordered two cups of soup and two small dinner salads. I asked for a glass of the house pinot grigio and my husband had a draft beer. Since Expedia asks that specific prices not be mentioned, I wont state the exact amount of the bill... however I can say that it came very close to the price of the room. And the house wine was not a particularly delicious one and definitely not worth the ridiculous price that they charged us.
