A great short escape!
We had a great time here. The service was friendly - if geared totally to the US market - and the hotel was comfortable and well appointed. There was also a good mix of young and old, and not too many children (but enough to be fun!). The pool area was popular, but clean and well maintained. The beach was straight off the property and also well maintained and with a few very polite hawkers only. There is an emphasis on selling timeshares, but coming from Europe we were not prime targets and were left alone very quickly once we said we had no interest. We thoroughly recommend the sailing trips on the Americas Cup yachts. TIP: at the airport, ignore the "greeters" just outside the exit doors and head straight to the next lobby where you really can get a taxi/minibus ticket without having the hard sell from the timeshare touts.
Sunset & whales from an Americas Cup sailing yacht!

Beautiful resort
The staff members are friendly and the services are wonderful. However, one major problem is the bed mattress in our room is super hard. My husband and I woke up every morning with back pains. We asked the staff members at the front desk if we could upgrade to a different room that has a better mattress; they said that all their mattresses are the same (which I think do not think its true). Therefore, we suffered sleeping on a rock hard mattress the rest of our stay.
Eat at Tabasco café; it’s about 5 minutes walk on the beach from the resort. They have great drinks and foods for less than you pay at the resort. Eat at La Mazatlan located down town. It’s a family restaurant with great foods and great prices. Another great restaurant near center of town is Mi Casa/Su Casa.
