Cool Hotel in Art & Design District
This small hotel is a cool, fun place to stay in the Queen Street West area. My room (a "crashpad") was small, but very clean and quiet. The mattress was on the firm side, which might work for most people, but I prefer a softer bed, so I had a stiff back every morning. Also, there is no elevator. The hotel is 100 percent smoke-free, which is great. There are lots of restaurants, bars, and shops within a close walk. The staff at this hotel is very friendly, but sometimes they are a bit forgetful. One morning I was served a lukewarm breakfast because my tragically hip waitron was chatting with a co-worker about his upcoming trip to somewhere. Also, lots of locals come to this hotel to party (there are 3 bars), but it never bothered me in terms of noise.
Traveler's tip on nightlife
In the Gay Village, go to Woodys and Zeldas, which both draw a nice mixed crowd.

Cant thank them enough
My husband and I had a lovely weekend planned at the Drake, but could only stay one night due to an unforseen medical problem. We spoke with the nice people at the front desk (who, from the moment we walked in the door, made us feel at home) to explain what was happening, and they immediately offered refund our second night if we needed to leave or go to a hospital. They could not have been more accommodating and kind in a difficult time. I cant thank them enough and they proved to me that the Drake is a first class establishment, from the rooms to the staff to the food. I wish we could have stayed longer.
Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay
West Queens West is a quirky area with some good restaurants and the Drake seems to be the charming heart of the neighborhood. If you are interested in more touristy or family-oriented things, they are not close, but the wonderful staff at the desk will help you find the right bus or tram to get you where you want to go.

Hip without attitude
This is one of the best boutique hotels I have stayed at. There is a reason for being there all day and night. If you are in Toronto, dont miss out by staying somewhere with a view of the water. The Drake is something special.
Traveler's tip for business travelers
Wake up with breakfast at their cafe, walk Queen St for lunch and shopping, come back to the hotel for dinner and try the sashimi salad and any other sushi. If you are at the hotel for lunch, try the burger!
