Definitely 5 Star

If you can afford to pay a little extra, this hotel has got to be one of the best in Venice! It was easy to find... others, located in the main islands, can only be located by obscure alleys and tiny stairwells. The staff were extremely helpful. The room was comfortable, temp controlled by thermostat. We used the vaporetto (water bus) for all our travel, and the bus stop is right nearby. We stayed for one week, and the hotel was like our beautiful home. The bed is two mattresses put together, like the other reviews had said, but we’re used to a kingsize and we had no problem with the bed. We didn’t eat at the hotel all, but we’re cheap. We found a grocery store down the island to get snack food. The spa is expensive, but I highly recommend having at least ONE treatment so that you may experience the beauty and mystique of the environment. We paid extra to have the WiFi access, and we found it to be very dependable with a strong signal. I paid more for a lagoon view, and it was also something I recommend. I spent a little time each night watching the boats, hearing the waves, and listening to the people on the street below.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Buy vaporetto 3-day passes, the best value. Also, if you are from the US, take outlet adapters for your plugs. Venice has an outlet that is standard to Europe. If you stay at the Bauer Palladio, take time to explore the hotel. There are many beautiful features of the building.

This hotel is reason enough to go to Venice!

The Bauer Palladio at Giudecca was the best thing about our four days in Venice. The hotel is in a former convent, and all of the architectural beauty of the original building was maintained. The updates were done phenomenally well - the bathrooms are completely modern, done in marble, and spotless. The island of Giudecca (a short boat ride from San Marco either by vaporetta or by a free ferry boat run by the hotel) is adorable - a great relief from the hustle and bustle of the main island. It has lovely cafes, and at least one great restaurant. The hotel itself has great food - there is a sumptuous buffet breakfast that is free every morning, a very friendly bar service and a nice restaurant. The staff at the hotel are extremely friendly and helpful. One staff member made us train reservations and put them on his own credit card since the train would not accept a US credit card. We got directions and excellent advice from the staff each day (we stayed 4 nights). We could not recommend this hotel highly enough!

Relaxed Opulence

This hotel was so quiet, we thought we were the only guests until we entered the breakfast room. Such a short ride across the canal to all the crowds and hustle of San Marco, and such a treat to return at night to the quiet of our hotel. I would go back here again, without any hesitation.
