My husband and I went with 2 other couples. It was an amazing place to stay...the service and quality were unbelievable. It rained the whole time we were there and we had to leave a day early due to hurrican but we still had an awesome time! The spa was one of the best I have ever been to. I highly recomment it to everyone!

I just want to tell whoever is reading this, that this hotel has employed the most polite and respectful staff that i had ever encountered. from the room service to the bar staff and the restraunt staff all should be commended on how well they took care of us. The food was top notch. This was our first stay in cancun and we are definatly going back again next year.

Really can’t wait to go back

I’d rather keep it a secret how wonderful this resort is however it would be a disservice not to acknowledge such an outstanding resort. We have been to Excellence three times. The first two times at Rivera Maya and this last time at Playa Muerjes. Each time the experience was better and better. This last visit we stayed for 10 days. The food, the service, the entertainment staff all of it was great. We would not take the chance of trying another Adult All Inclusive least we be disappointed. There is a section of the resort closer to the beach for people that like to party and a section near the spa for those who like it more quiet and serene. The hydro massage-great circuit, the spa services a bit pricey but luxurious. We enjoyed the nightly show each night. The preformers really put their whole hearts into the shows but keep your expectation reasonable-it’s not Broadway. My husband and I left looking forward to going back, "how soon can we go?"

Would go back in a heartbeat

We loved it. It surpassed our expectations. The food was good and the staff was friendly. The grounds were beautiful. We definitely would recommend it.

Peaceful Vacation

Hotel was very nice and relaxing. Food was all great, with great service. Everyone that worked there just wanted to make your stay great. I would go back to this hotel in a minute. We didn[t go to do anything but relax and this hotel fit the bill perfectly.

Good relaxing time--

Overall, very nice--they need to have more variety in the food selection. Comparing to Secrets, they do not have as much group activitiy--or they don’t have enough staff to get people involved. People hoarding the floats at the pool was not deterred and was definitely a problem. Evening entertainment was good--the Asian restaurant food was ok but slow-REALLY SLOW! Game room (loosely used) has very limited games-very limited-and was on the 3rd floor with the pool tables. Awkward. Cancun 150 pesos away (negotiate before entering taxi)- beware the roving mariaches because they sing and then demand 5USD. Taxi to ferry 150 pesos (negotiate!) ferry 11USD round trip. Can get golf cart 50USD or scooter 20USD--fares change depending on how you look. Isla Mujeres narrow island, can cover on scooter in 2 hrs or less. Love Mexico-been there 15 times or better-liked the Excellence Riviera Maya better. Fun bartenders, ok beach (lots of seaweed), nice pools--really all and all had a good time.

Best Hotel Stay EVER

Had a wonderful time once we arrived. Arrange for the taxi trip from the airport to the hotel before traveling. The cost is more than double if you don’t. We arrived after 8pm, so taxi trip was quite an adventure not knowing where this hotel was. It is located away from everything else, and roads to get there were dark, with no street lights. Would stay here again and again. Food was great, little issue with the bugs around dusk, but after an hour or so they got better. Hotel was out right away to try and eliminate the bugs as soon as they arrived. Any type of mixed drink you want is available. Staff was wonderful and accomidating. We didn’t want for anything, it was all there for the asking. Only downfall was that there was very little shopping on the hotel grounds, only 3 shoppes. Don’t expect to do a lot of shopping here.

Book your trip from airport to this hotel when booing rest of trip. We did not, and it is not on the "normal" approved taxi trips so it was over double what the return trip was. DO NOT talk with anyone outside of customs regarding your taxi ride until you are outside the aiprort at the taxi locations.

Doing nothing in pampered luxury!

Fantastic resort - my wife and really enjoyed all that Excellence had to offer - great room, food, drink, pools, and a very relaxed atmosphere. Highly recommended for couples seeking the ultimate adults only get-away.

Will go back for our anniversary every year!

This was our second visit to the Excellence Playa Mujeres Resort. We visited once last Nov (’08) as boyfriend and girlfriend and returned this year for our honeymoon. Everything was exactly like we remembered -- perfect! I really cannot say enough good things about this property, and believe me, this is in comparison to some other really nice places that I have stayed. Rooms are fantastic, property is fantastic, food and drink are excellent (and plentiful -- especially the latter!), and the service is impeccable. We will recommend this property to anyone who wants to experience a great time in Mexico.

There are few options for getting to the property. The primary and most efficient means is via taxi cab. However, the state controls the outgoing taxicab service from the Cancun airport and charges a lot for it. So, you can either ante up and pay the high rates for the cab or suffer through the dreaded multi-property shuttle that drags you all over Cancun on the way to the property. The shuttle option is really not what one wants to be doing on their vacation, so both times we have visited, we sucked it up, bought a couple of road sodas (beers), and grabbed one of the state cabs for a direct ride to the property. On the return trip, regular (non state controlled) taxis are about a third of the price.

Our Best Trip Yet

This was our fourth trip to Cancun and this was by far the nicest hotel we have stayed at. We had previously stayed at the Oasis, Sun Palace, and Moon Palace, and this hotel was by far the best. Rooms were very nice...food quality and choice was great, and being Adults only made it nice and quiet. The beach/water is not as nice as the hotel zone (strip) but being off the beaten path makes it worth it. The taxi ride is $80 one-way and you don’t have much other choice. Other than those negatives, everything was great. I honestly can’t see us going to any other hotel in the future but this one. We were that impressed.

For those like me that get travelers sickness anytime you go to Mexico, take Cipro a day or two into the trip...clears it right up.

Second Time Even Better At Excellence Playa Mujeres

The first trip to this newish resort over a year ago was fantastic. We’d always heard that the food at all inclusives wasn’t up to par which is why we chose Excellence...they had good restaurants. Ditto this October. Best everything. Many of those we knew from our previous trip are still there, including the great fitness instructor Carlos. Food was even better, drinks a hit too. Did an anniversary dinner at the French place and I dare say it was one of our best ever. And they upgrade the house wines. Rooms perfect, and all in all we will be making a return.

Best hotel chain....by far, watch out for airport taxi

excellent hotel chain as a whole, this is the 2nd one we’ve been to and they are leaps and bounds better than any other we’ve seen. The taxis at the airport are a union and its $80 across the board for a 30 min ride to the hotel. A regular taxi is only $30. Walk out of the airport entirely and past the airport taxis to find a "real" taxi. When we bought our overpriced taxi in the airport they offered us a free excursion to the isla mujeres, but you have to go see a timeshare for "90 min", ends up being 4 hours and the tour to the island is by the same company and it aint worth it, buy the excursion at the hotel for a better quality tour. The "Sunset Resorts" is the timeshare thing, they show you a 3 star resort and tell you its a 5 star according to their rating, but after leaving the Excellence, You KNOW what a 5 star is. We plan on going to the other 2 Excellence resorts next in Jamaca and Cancun....

Another superior experience

We’ve been to Excellence Riviera Cancun twice and decided to try out Excellence Playa Mujeres. It was even better than we expected. Beautiful grounds, gorgeous rooms, great restaurants, lovely staff. Beach is a bit smaller than at ERC, but water is more Caribbean blue/green. The Flavor Market tapas restaurant is a nice addition; Spice was our favorite restaurant. Spa services were superior. Rooftop terrace rooms were all booked, but we’re going that route next time. Michael Jackson show in theater was really entertaining. Both Excellence properties are a great choice for people looking for a relaxing, quiet getaway.Limousine service through the hotel costs a bit more but it’s worth it.

Relaxing Trip

Did not leave resort, it was an awesome place. A must if you want a relaxing time without kids. Just a bit disappointed in the beach.

Heaven on Earth

This hotel was far and away the best hotel I have ever stayed at. My wife and I loved every aspect of the resort. The staff was friendly, the rooms, pools and resturants were emaculate. The food was fantastic and the restuarants, including the buffets for breakfast and lunch, offered an amazing variety of choices. We have recomeneded Playa Mujere’s to every friend, family member and strangers we have met who asked us how our honeymoon was. We cannot wait to go back.

Early October was the perfect time to be in Mexico. Having been to Mexico multiple times October provides nice warm weather, mid 90’s, without being over the top hot and uncomfortable. (100+)

Fantastic Honeymoon Destination

OVERVIEW: When we arrived, we were instantly in awe of how organized, professional and courteous everyone was. Seriously, the customer service was astounding. The room was HUGE and the porch was HUGE (basic Junior suite was all we needed). FOOD: 4/5 I loved my stay, but the food could have been better. Some dishes were awesome and some were so-so. Don’t let this deter you, there were lots of options. PLUS, they had a Nacho Bar on the beach. DRINK: There were bars everywhere and top shelf liquor. They had a drink of the day (usually blended and delicious). Lots of juice and non-alcoholic stuff too. GOOD: Excellent service, Concierge, 24hr Room Service, Candy/beer in the fridge, Nightly Show, Beautiful Beach, sweet pool, Pineapple Monkeys, Yoga, Bicycle tour, Spanish lessons and other cool daytime activities, Bed on Porch, Adult TV, 24hr Room Service, Honeymoon package, no children, Romantic breakfast at 5am on our porch during sunrise BAD: Mosquitoes (they come out in the evening), Far from the city. Food could be better, but its way better than most resorts. More expensive ADVICE: Take advantage of the activities, they are fun and you meet nice people (including the staff). Introduce yourself to the concierge, Take a scuba excursion to the reef CONCLUSION: I can’t imagine a better place to honeymoon. It was a perfect balance between service, seclusion, and entertainment. If you want to relax after a hectic wedding, this is the place.

Most people weren’t interested in going to the shows, but we found that they were entertaining and a fun activity as an alternative to simply getting drunk at the bar (or in your room)

Great resort. Booked lastminute. Been to other resorts in mexico and was not impressed. Incredible service, bar selection, and every restaurant was excellent.

Cancun

We cannot say enough great things about this resort. There was ample everything...food, staff, drinks, relax time... We could not have picked a better place for our anniversary.

Book transportation to and from the resort when booking your resort-we got stuck at the airport and paid way too much for transportation to the resort. We had to use a local taxi service...

Truly a Great Resort

This was my first experience with an all-inclusive resort and going to Mexico. I have to say, that is was amazing and well worth the money!! The folks were so friendly and really wanted to make your stay wonderful! I would recommend to book a car to and from the airport - ours was about $70 round trip for 2 people and it was a private car & driver. At the resort, I asked for a room that had a great view and far away from elevators - they completely accomodated that request. Another recommendation for the resort, we stayed in building 7. This was close to the main bar/outdoor area, so we heard music way into the late night. If you don’t want to hear music at all hours, request a room away from the main area. Otherwise, you can’t go wrong with this place - great people, room, food and drinks!

Pampering Bliss!! Perfect Honeymoon!! Book it!!

After much research we decided to stay at Excellence Playa Mujeres for our honeymoon. We had planned to stay on an exotic island in the Caribbean but were seduced by the great deals of Mexico & we couldn’t be more pleased with our decision!! They simply don’t know the word "No" at Excellence. The staff seem to have one job & that is to make you feel pampered & happy & they excel at their jobs!! The food at all restaurants was amazing and the brunch buffet is great. We loved room service, order big the portions are very small. To our surprise "Spice" was our favorite restaurant.The French restaurant had a rude hostess but that didn’t ruin our experience for the week, the manager personally apologied. The pool bar is a little rawdy but there are so many pool options, there is something for everyone. Our favorite was drifting on the lazy river with a cold cocktail!! The water is not as blue as you’d expect but the beach side service more than make up for it...the sand was excellent! Another favorite was snuggling up at X-Lounge while waiting for our amazing table at the Lobster House. Took a tour of Chichen Itza through the hotel. Takes a whole day, it’s worth going but I wouldn’t bother if you are only there for a few days. No resort is perfect but Excellence is about as close as you will find!

It is soooo worth booking private car service directly through the hotel...it’s around $140 round trip. They will send you instructions when you email or call them directly to book. There are a lot of people right outside of baggage claim, in uniform, that say they work for the airport and are your car service but keep walking - scammers...outside there is a counter to the left with the blue shirt guy, the hotel will send you a pic and he will have your name and all your info. The car was waiting the second we arrive and was on time to take us back!! It was great!! Flawless and easy.

Great resort....had a wonderful time. Buffet food was the best of the choices. Room was great...staff was great.

Excellence Playa Mujeres was wonderful

Excellence Playa Mujeres was fantastic and lived up to the 5 star rating and comments that we saw online. It was a beautiful property. Staff was very accommodating and very friendly. Every staff member that we encountered made it a point to greet us. Food was wonderful. We tried the Asian restaurant the first night; it was our favorite. Breakfast and lunch buffet was great. Would not hesitate to recommend this resort to friends or go back next time we are in Cancun.

This was the best hotel/resort that we have stayed at by far. The rooms were wonderful, the food was great, the service was spot on! Our only complaint.....not enough days there!!! Can’t say enough about it!
