L’Auberge under construction
First, we have been to L’Auberge several times in the past when it was a quiet, secluded resort - that is why we went there....now the new owners are making it a "5 star" resort, with parking garage, swimming pool, and additional cabins (which clearly do not have the ambiance as the originals). In addition, they have rearraigned the Terrace area to accomodate more tables, which makes that area congested and parts of passing bodies in guests faces. Our room in the lodge was wonderful, larger than expected and noise from neighbors was minimal. That’s the good news. We probably will give it one more try after construction is done (sometime in May of 2010 we heard) but it will never be the same quaint place we cherished. People who have never been will not know the difference, and will enjoy what they see. But for those of us who knew it when, the congestion of people and cars is more than we bargained for and certainly didn’t expect.
Stay away from Amara - we sat on the patio - the bartender had to mix drinks and service us, which meant we waited for drinks, waited to order, waited to eat...and the drinks were weak and the food average. Excellent service and food at the Barking Frog Grille! Tried their Grilled Cheese sandwich, best I’ve ever had - and the sweet potato fries were to die for.....treat yourself by stopping there for lunch or dinner.

Best Hotel Ever
This is the best hotels I have ever stayed at. We stayed in one of the lodge rooms. The room was really nice and the service excellent. The staff provided excellent service and were really friendly. I had no complaints about anything. There is construction going on outside of the inn. They are building new cabins, but it was not a problem for us. They didn’t start working until around 8 am and they were never very loud. If I ever got back to Sedona I would definetely want to stay there again.

Perfect getaway
My husband and I wanted a quick romantic getaway and L’auberge was perfect. The staff was very attentive and willing to help in any way. The construcion was evident but they went out of their way to make up for it. We enjoyed the manager’s reception with wine, beer and cheese. The afternoon cookies were wonderful. It is a very peaceful and beautiful property. We will definitely return!
