Honolulu trip 09

I recently took my father to Honolulu....He’s been retired for 10 years now and he wanted to get away for a week....He wanted to go to Europe but everyone I knew who had gone in the last 10 years said Europe was OK at best....After reading the reviews about Aston at the Executive I thought I would try it out.....It did not disappoint....The room we got on the 40th floor was right next to the breakfast room where they serve an excellent breakfast each morning....My Dad didn’t even have to take an elevator ride....He told me on the plane ride home one of the best parts about that hotel was having a danish and coffee each morning and watching the planes take off in the distance..The room had 2 pillow top beds that were practically new and comfortable...The room has over 75 channels of TV to choose from and 2 TVS (20" Tube Sets)...It had a kitchenette area we didn’t use at all but was very clean...There was not a single bug, hair, smell, odor, or stink of any kind in our room...When we got there I actually stood by the air vent and breathed in for a few minutes to see if I could pick up any odors and there were none...Parking was in-expensive...about 50% less than the other hotels in Honolulu wanted...The Longs Drugs on the first floor was very convenient especially one morning when I really needed some clothes.....The water pressure in the shower in our room was very adequate...

If you have any problem with paying $110 for two lunch cruises....Then by all means avoid the "Star of Honolulu" cruise..It cost $55 per person and we were led to believe it was gonna be a good lunch and cruise....It was terrible...The menu they show you says they serve Roast Beef, a Salmon dish, and a chicken dish....The roast beef was like shoe leather that after chewing it for about 2 minutes still couldn’t swallow it..The salmon which I was hoping was gonna be good was a cold salmon salad with pieces of tomato in it...It was lousy....The best was the chicken dish which was ALL thighs....In case you don’t know...Chicken thighs are all dark meat....It is the cheapest part of the chicken....They were luke warm at best and was nothing more than roasted chicken thighs with a sauce on them....The dessert was nothing more than a tray of butter cookies.....We were not pleased with this....We were led to believe it was gonna be much nicer than it was....The beers were $6 a piece and weren’t even 16 ounce cups.....When we were unpleased with the "D" level lunch provided my father asked the server what could be done and she said "NOTHING SIR"...Then we told her we were not getting $55 worth of pleasure out of this lunch cruise...so I don’t feel I’m getting completely ripped off how about you buy me a $.45 glass of tap beer and we can call it even....cheap, rude, short sighted business people....

Friendly service and convenient location to Cruise ships

We chose this hotel for convenient access to the cruise ship dock which was an easy 10 minute walk away. Service was friendly and on arrival our accommodation had been upgraded to a suite. Several excellent restaurants in the vicinity
