Nice but tight
This is a nice well maintained hotel very close to the entrance to Biltmore Estate. The only problems with the hotel that have is the small bathroom and we could not open a window. It was a bit pricey for the room. We also stayed at the Crowne Plaza in Ashville which was far nicer for less money -- and the grounds are fabulous backing up to the golf course.
Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay
Stay at the Crowne Plaza if you want to enjoy the surrounding beauty at a very nice hotel with very friendly staff for bargain rates. It is also close to downtown Ashville and our favorite pizza place the "Mellow Mushroom".

Pretty Decent
The hotel is marvelously close to Biltmore and a variety of restaurants, with TGIFridays right in the hotel. I really liked that the fitness center is open 24 hours. That works well for a business person who is accustomed to vastly varying meeting times. I do wish the pool was outdoors, however.

Comfortable but Not Up to Usual Doubletree Standard
Room was clean comfortable and quiet. Staff was friendly and accomodating. Hotel promptly provided a refrigerator to our room upon check in. Breakfast was terrific. The hotel itself however seemed ordinary and in need of updating/remodeling. Did not feel it was typical of Doubletrees standards or comparable to its other hotels. Seemed more like a Holiday Inn. Did not feel that it justified the higher rating and price.
