Historic and charming, great location, sleezy neighborhood, nice and cheap
This 1915 brick structure was a favorite haunt of Ernest Hemmingway. The rooms are small and dingy and the immediate neighborhood is without merit. On the positive side, its downtown location right next to the Metro and reasonable parking charge makes it by far the best deal for the whimsical and tolerant traveler who’s more intrested in economy than luxury..
Take the bus to the Metro and then directly to the hotel, and save a bundle.

Good location but...
The Hotel is OK in general. Don’t expect a good breakfast. Everything is cold: the eggs, the milk, the bread, etc. The front desk people are kind enough. I don’t like that the check in is at 4pm!!! and the check out is 11am!!!... however, they allow you to check out at 1pm (maximum). About the location, the hotel is one block from the metro station and about half an hour to downtown. It’s a nice walk and I recommend it.
Try the Korean restaurants... they are so delicious!!!

Cozy and comfortable for a sound night’s sleep with no worries.
This hotel does not have all the amenities that would qualify it for a five star rating, such as an indoor swimming pool, restaurant/bar, or exercise room, lavish rooms, etc.; however, what it does provide for the simple traveler, who is looking for a good, clean bed and a decent breakfast, is excellent staff, friendly service, and a proximiy to the Toronto subway. Hotel parking, although not disclosed on expedia.ca is extra per night, so if you need to park a vehicle, reckon in this aspect. The Clarion Hotel and Suites Selby has a family history that is worth learning about, and a periodical atmosphere that is both refreshing and enlighting, and visiting this place feels like stepping into the good days of old, when men were men and women were their help-mates. The whole experience was clean and endearing! Many thanks to the multicultural staff!
It would be a little difficult for the elderly or handicapped to freely move around this building, from the concrete front steps to the narrow hallways, but not impossible!
