We invite you to step back in time and enjoy the splendor of yesteryear in this magnificent c.1746 National Historic Register Inn. The guest rooms are romantically furnished in period style, each featuring a working fireplace and a jacuzzi-whirlpool tub, private bath, cable tv, phone/modem lines, high speed wireless in some rooms, stereo/cd player, AC, alarm clock, hair dryer, iron. Each with four poster/canopy bed and comfortable sitting area as well. A formal candlelit breakfast is served in the elegant fireplaced dining room on fine china. Full 3 course breakfast weekends and expanded continental breakfast weekdays. Enjoy complimentary port wine, teas, spring water, and cookies anytime. Guest refrigerator. Massage therapy on premesis. Located in the heart of the historic district, on a pretty gas-lit main street, we are a short walk to the water, quaint shops, restaurants, coffeehouses with entertainment, spa s, town green activities, ice skating pond, and Saybrook Point Park at the mouth of the CT River. We are next door to an old-fashioned ice-cream parlor, coffeehouse, art gallery and across from an old house museum and pillared white church. We are just 1mile from beaches, cruises, lighthouses, waterfront dining, golf and mini golf. Beautiful area for walking, bicycling, antiqueing, and scenic drives along the CT River and Long Island Sound. One mile to Long Island Sound beaches and CT River Cruises. Beach passes, maps, and advice provided. Bordered on two sides by the Connecticut River and Long Island Sound, Old Saybrook embodies the spirit of a charming, small New England town with a rich seafaring tradition. We are just a short drive to Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun Casino s, Factory Outlet Malls, Mystic Seaport and Aquarium, Essex Steam Train and RiverBoat, Gillette Castle, along with numerous museums, antique shops, playhouses, state parks, wineries, spa s, and charming New England villages to explore. A very pleasant place to stay
The hotel is quaint, clean, nicely furnished and comfortable. It has a good, secure parking area. The only problem we had was occasional street noise (the hotel is located on the main street).
