Relaxing & peaceful resort

We went the first week of October & it was as though we had the hotel to ourselves, which we loved. If you are more social, you may want to pick another time. I was beautiful & relaxing the the staff was first rate. Enjoyed that you could snorkle at the hotel & that there was a full service spa there.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Always get a receipt (& keep them), ask what conversion rate they are using, bring a small calcultor if you are not good with figures, & definitely skip the ’free’ breakfast with the sales pitch. Not worth your precious vacation time.

The Best Place in Cozumel!!

We just recently got back from our second visit to President. Our first visit was on our honeymoon and we loved it so much we went back...with 5 of our friends. The service is impeccable - the staff is always friendly and the rooms are clean with beautiful views. The off shore snorkeling is wonderful but the diving with Scuba Du will make your trip! Beautiful diving and it is so convenient with the dive shop being right on site. Did I mention the beach? It has a wonderful white sand beach to walk around on that doesn’t ever seem to get too hot. Walk on the beach, go snorkeling, then get out and rinse off with the many fresh water showers around the beach and you are in paradise. All 7 of us plan on going back soon...we love it there and couldn’t imagine staying anywhere else.

Traveler's tip

Bring lots of $1’s, you don’t want to get many pesos back because you get jipped by the exchange rate. $1’s are very handy!

Great place

My wife and I only had four days for a dive trip and wanted a high end place with a beach, snorkeling, away from the crowds and still close to town. The Presidente was great. The upgrade to the beachside deluxe room with the outdoor shower was well worth it. The Italian restaraunt was pricy, but the food and service were excellent. It is only $7 for a taxi to town and the food quality in Cozumel is surprisingly good. 2 for 1 happy hour at the pool bar had excellent strong drinks. The snorkeling was just OK, but having it right outside your door with a great beach and cabanas is hard to beat. The Presidente is certainly one of the more expensive places on the island, but I felt it was well worth it.

Traveler's tip on recreational activities

Rent a jeep and check out the island. There are no cruise ships on Sunday, but the islanders are out in droves, so pick another day if you want fewer people out and about. The town square is fun on Sunday night.

Amazing Stay

This hotel is everything you would expect in a high end resort. Not just clean and beautiful rooms, but clean and beautiful everything. We had fresh flowers in our room, towels wrapped origami style in the shape of a lamb laying on our bed, and just immaculate housekeeping. The beaches are gorgeous with what appear to be locally crafted cabanas. The hotel was maybe 20% occupancy during our visit, so besides the main beach by the pool, the other two were fairly empty. We try to stay at kid free resorts, but there were several families there and we hardly noticed. This is a great time to vacation. We felt the on-site restaurants were a bit sub par, the Mexican one was definitely better than the Italian one though. If you are looking for good food, head to town and try the authentic La Choza, it’s amazing. Also Guidos Italian was very good and Panchos Backyard was good but a bit Americanized compared to the authentic La Choza. We did not use the hotels diving service due to the size of their groups. We bumped into them on one of our dives and I swear they had 20 people in their group. It seemed quite congested and I could not imagine what an entire dive like that would be like. I recommend going with a smaller shop in town so you get a more personalized experience (for the same price). We went with Blue Magic Scuba and loved them. The shop is run by a couple from California and they were so easy and friendly to work with. Highly recommended.

Traveler's tip on recreational activities

Diving: Blue Magic Scuba was the highlight of our trip. We went there for great diving and they definitely delivered. The largest group we went out with was 8 people which included 3 other customers, two dive masters and the owner. Talk about the VIP treatment. A special thanks to Joyce and Sandro for showing us a great time!

Will Return to Paradise Again

Our third time to Cozumel, second time to El Presidente Hotel - still one of the rare slices of Paradise on this side of the earth. Because of ongoing renovations on the north side of hotel, we were upgraded to south side beach front rooms. The rooms, beach, pool, grounds and service were wonderful. For dinner, go downtown to El Capi’s (seafood) and La Choza (real mexican)- both excellent.

Traveler's tip on recreational activities

Rent a car or jeep and drive to Punta Sur national park - beautiful living reef that you can snorkle - and must drive along east side of island - so different from west side.

Great Resort!

The service was outstanding. They went above and beyond all expectations. The rooms are large and right on the beach, not down the walkway a few blocks. The food quality was great, much better than any previous visits.

The Best Hotel in Cozumel!

We hadn’t been to the Presidente in 9 years, and it was better than ever! Our room was beautiful and comfortable. The food was delicious. We rent a jeep when we are in Cozumel, but we didn’t need it this time. The hotel is one of the best places to snorkel. Our children were with us, ages 7 and 10 and they had a great time.

Traveler's tip on recreational activities

We took a day trip to Passion Island and had a great time. It was a little expensive ($280 for a family of 4) but it was a great place to take the children. Lots of family activities.

A beautiful place

This is a gorgeous hotel, probably one of the nicest in Cozumel. The room was large, the staff always pleasant, the beach and pools were magnificent. The restaurant and bar were great although the portion size for meals a little small (plenty for average female, a bit scanty for males). Buffet kind of expensive. Great work out room!

Great experience

The staff is really, really helpful and nice. The hotel pays a lot of attention to detail-from hibiscus blossoms scattered around the room to a cool drink and towel when you check in. I have never felt so well-cared for at a hotel. The food was at the main restaurant was very good. The kitchen kept sending out little amuse bouches. Very fun.

Decent, but not what I expected

The beach area is nice, but pretty small. It’s not actually on the beach. Only two resorts in Cozumel are. The biggest problem is that it wasn’t all inclusive. I thought it would be, because most all the resorts are. There are only two that aren’t, and the Presidente is one of them.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

You want to rent a car or jeep if you stay here. That way you can get to better beach areas and better restaurants in town. (However, driving in town I found somewhat of a pain. It’s rather congested.) There are only two resturants in the hotel, which are decent, but not as good as some of the ones in town.

Another great vacation at El Presidente!

This was our second trip back to Cozumel and El Presidente (which speaks volumes, in itself!)It’s a lovely resort and we had another wonderful time. The staff is friendly and efficient and the food is great. And, the place is spotless! My husband went to the spa several times for massages and highly recommends it. Even though the resort was full, it was quiet and never felt crowded. If you go into town, we highly recommend "La Coza" and "Pancho’s Backyard" (get a mojito!)I hope to go back again one day. We’ve been to several other islands but Cozumel has it all!

Traveler's tip on recreational activities

We were in Cozumel with our 2 sons and their girlfriends. We all did "Dolphin Adventure" in Chakanaab Park. Go! It was amazing!

We had a great time!

The staff was friendly and helpful. The bed was comfortable which is hard to find in Mexico. The snorkeling right off the hotel beach was awesome. The only minus is that town is fairly far away, but that’s what you get when you have a quiet hotel on the beach.

First rate

Have stayed here every year for the past seven years. Great service, food, and accomodations. There is something for everyone. While there are no white sandy beaches to take long walks on, if you enjoy snorkeling, this is a perfect place to stay. Reefs on property with access from snorkel pier. Great snorkeling without leaving the property.

Wish we could have stayed longer.

The InterContinental Presidente Cozumel Resort & Spa was beautiful. Room and hotel clean and well cared for. Food at the restaurant was fantastic. Dinner was priced good but breakfast was a little expensive. The beach is small but extremely well cared for. The IC had a small reef and tide pools right off the beach with some interesting sea life. Tried the intro to scuba class at Scuba Du and had a blast. The IC is a little far from town but is well worth the stay. My only complaint is the sales barrage the staff gives you upon check in. Other than that my wife and I would love to go back.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Enjoy the sunset at the beach and drinks are 2 for 1 from 5 to 7 p. Also in town pay pesos instead of US dollars. Most businesses give a discount for pesos!

Top shelf

Everyone was extremely professional and accommodating. Had a problem with mechanics of the door on first day of visit and was moved to a suite for our inconvenience. Certainly unexpected and thoroughly pleased. Very well kept beach and grounds. Room service was timely with food always hot. Conceirge was very helpful in setting up a last minute, night before excursion to the mainland. Would definitely stay here again.

Far exceeded our every expectation

From the moment we arrived, we were treated like royalty at this resort. From the concierge offering to unpack our luggage for us and escorting us to our room to the butler staff locating our snorkel gear left in the taxi we’d arrived in 2 hours earlier! The hotel staff is ABSOLUTELY top notch. We had a very modern and ideally located reef room on the north end with a practically private beach to itself. The hotel restaurants are excellent. The outside restaurant was our choice for almost every meal, the atmosphere and service were fantastic. This hotel beyond exceeded our expectations!!! Words cannot express our gratitude and deep appreciation for each and everyone at the Presidente.

Traveler's tip on recreational activities

Scuba Du was great. The diving was enjoyed very much by my husband. We asked later in the day about parasailing and the men at Scuba Du made a phone call and had the crew over in less than 30 minutes. Prices are very reasonable. Oh and if you go to town, don’t eat the ice cream from any street vendors (unless you’re already on antibiotics) and make sure to purchase the expedia protection plan- as it covers medical expenses up to $5K.

As advertised!

Other reviews are accurate, as we stayed here based on them. Great hotel, great service, and great food. If you are looking for endless, crowd free sand beach, you’ll need to go to the east side of the island; but that’s the case for all the hotels on the island. Highly recomennded.

Repeat guest

My husband and I have traveled to Cozumel several times over the past 10 years. We have always stayed at the Presidente. It has nice amenities, is quiet and beautiful. I do think the rates are high. Especially for deluxe rooms. The Spa rates are also high for the facility and services. I don’t usually visit the spa for this reason.
