Excellent location, great accomodation, great food
As other reviewers note, the service is great, the beach is very nice and not busy at all, very clean and comfortable, and great services. Yes there is that additional fifteen dollar a day "resort fee" that is annoying, but it is worth it. In addition, the restaurants are very good; the breakfast is really top notch, and the sushi restaurant is an all you can eat sushi restaurant....

Very Relaxing Vacation
We thoroughly enjoyed our 10-day stay at the Makena Beach and Golf Resort. The staff was excellent. A special shout-out goes to Evelyn, who runs the cappucino bar, and who greeted us every morning with a song and friendly conversation. As others have said, the rooms are dated, but they are clean and very comfortable. The only criticism I have is that the rooms and elevators do not have Braille numbers, which meant that my blind husband could not navigate the hotel on his own. I hope the new management will remedy this problem immediately. The Grille, the Japanese restaurant, and the pool bar are excellent. The grounds at the hotel are beautiful, and the beach is great. There were days when we planned to go out and do something, but wed head to the beach and the next thing we knew, it was late afternoon and we had no regrets. The sun, the breeze, the water -- all were perfect. The guys who manage the beach chairs are very helpful; one took special care to help me look for a pair of lost sunglasses. My sons enjoyed the ping pong table as well. We wish the tennis facilities were more affordable though. At $24 an hour, we didnt bother. We can play tennis for free at home. The location in Makena was a good central Maui location. We would love to go back.

Not highly recommended, but okay..
It was such a nice and quiet environment, but the food at their restaurants was not good at all. Their Molokai bar and grill was disappointing. Serving staff are not professional. They could even serve cold steak......:(
