Not What I Expected From The Westin
I booked 2 stays for one week. My confirmation showed Ocean Front King rooms for both stays. At check in, I was given an OF Double. The Westin was able to change my first stay to a King but was not able to give me the OF King room for my second stay. I ended up in a King Room overlooking a gazebo and could barely see the ocean. Same price. I was charged a resort fee upon booking. An even greater "resort fee" is also charged at check in. There were no refunds. My husband joined me for the second stay. We were finally given a dinner credit for the room issue and ordered room service-one entree to share, 2 drinks and ice cream for dessert. We were brought one drink, one set of silverware and not the ice cream that was on the menu. (We were credited for the that and my husband had to eat the lesser choice flavor with a fork.) Although the staff is very friendly, we got the feeling that everyone was scrambling. The lobby area wasn’t tidy and there was trash in various place in the public areas. I have always loved the Westin as it usually give me a feeling of comfort and security and I feel I’ve gotten what I’ve paid for. This stay was certainly not up to par. We have a beautiful Lowcountry and need to be able to offer fine accommodations for our visiting friends as well as travelling locals like myself.
