So so
The front lobby was really nice for this hotel, but the buildings outside were kinda dingy and dark-looking. The rooms weren’t easy to find either. The rooms were plain but sufficient for me. The staff was a mixed bag. The front desk people were really nice and helpful but the cleaning lady kept barging in to clean, even after the "privacy" sticker was put up, and even after we kept telling her we were going to stay in late. Other than that, my stay here was satisfactory.

Red lion inn sacto
Room was "supposedly" remodeled. Very plain room. No upgrades. Bathroom was poorly constructed. Shower handel separated from tule when you turned it on. Towel rack fell off the wall. For a few bucks more there are far nicer hotels in the area.

Under construction-major renovations
The hotel location and description were very misleading. The hotel is next to the freeway/shopping mall not near Cal Expo. Shuttle service was not reliable as promised. Staff was very apologetic and tried to accommodate during renovations of property. Hotel is a mess in the meantime. Hotel rooms are clean/comfortable but restaurant is isolated and very understaffed. Hotel personnel were extremely nice.
